A secluded spot in the forest for a cosy couple’s break. Get back to nature and explore walking and cycling trails along the River Wye and into the Brecon Beacons.

The cabin is located in the sweet rural hamlet of Clyro, just north of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Adventure on foot or bike on the pathways that criss-cross this storied landscape. Climb the ridges of the Black Mountains to get an intimate experience of the Welsh weather. Or for a culture trip, the quaint town of Hay-on-Wye is 1.5 miles away; it’s famous for its literary festival, but is also packed with history. Visit the 12th-century Hay Castle before taking in the local independent book shops.

The property is a cabin sitting in a secluded plot, with a timber exterior that continues inside for a cosy, natural feel. Step in through the glass-fronted entrance — discover a bright open-plan living space that combines the kitchen, bedroom and sitting areas. The sofa is a comfy place to relax, as you prepare a meal in the well-equipped kitchen, with a butler sink, microwave, and a pull-out breakfast bar. The bed is a double, dressed in natural tones. Enjoy waking up with the birds singing outside the cabin’s many windows. The shower room gives you an invigorating start to the day before you head into the Beacons.

The space outside the cabin is made for a romantic hideaway. Tell the story of your first date beside the fire pit. Wake up and enjoy your morning coffee in the woodland air. Explore the owner’s land, including an orchard, or find the footpath that leads straight from your plot into the hills.

The cottage (cabin) was spotlessly clean, warm and cosy. The kitchen facilities were excellent. The only downside was that the ""pull out breakfast bar"" was missing. Having to eat breakfast with plates balanced on our knees day on a low sofa was somewhat tricky to say the least. We asked the owner for laptrays or a similar solution. She was extrRead moreemely apologetic and tried her best to assist. Hide

The Brecon Beacons is a vast, mountainous and rural region of Wales. Stretching 42 miles from east to west and covering an area of 520 square miles, the Brecon Beacons is dominated by the National Park of the same name. Split into three main areas, the Black Mountain in the west, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr in the middle, and the Black Mountains in the east; each is a wild, bold and inspiring place to visit on holiday. With 1232 miles of public trails which includes the 95-mile-long Beacons Way, it’s a wayfarer’s delight. One of four Dark Skies Reserves in the UK (and one of 11 in the world), stargazers can delight in the open night sky, to enjoy the darkness in full splendour. The Fforest Fawr is a UNESCO Global Geopark because of its important geology and a need to conserve and protect the area from negative over development.

Stay at a self-catering cottage in the mountains and cascading woodlands or out on the moors; you can also stay in one of the Brecon Beacon’s lovely towns like Hay-on-Wye, Crickhowell, Llangorse or Brecon. Outdoor lovers will enjoy a choice of easy to challenging treks up and around Sugar Loaf Mountain, Carn Pica, Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad, Pen y Fan, or Hatterall Ridge (and many more besides). Take in uniquely Welsh attractions like Dan-yr-Ogof (the National Showcaves Centre for Wales), The Big Pit Mining Museum, Llanthony Priory, Carreg Cennen Castle, Fourteen Locks, and the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway. Wildlife abounds in the Brecon Beacons, and it’s a great place to spot red kites and discover the successful story of their reintroduction to the UK’s skies at the Red Kite Centre. There’s so much to do for outdoor lovers and extreme sports fans here, so why not book your self-catering holiday in the Brecon Beacons today?

Our holiday cottages across the Brecon Beacons have been carefully selected. From dog-friendly cottages in the countryside to large farmhouses on the mountainsides and everything in between, we have a holiday in the Brecon Beacons to suit you.
