Very secluded cottage, isolated and peaceful. Great mountains to walk and views are spectacular. If you go when its rainy make sure you have good grip on your tyres as driveway can be a little tricky! Fully equipped and some great old books to look at and absolutely loved the big map of the area on the living room wall. The piano was great too. A great little barn. Walks all around the area including some directly from the property . Dog friendly garden 50m2 ish, half on a slope and full of vegetation to give the dogs something to sniff and look out over the valley. Our dog was fascinated by the sheep in the field next door. A wonderful spot with loads of character! Brilliant location for cycling and hiking - didn't need to get into the car once after we arrived. The roads around are really quiet, the house is comfortable, and there is a nice sense of ease with nature whilst there.

We loved hillside barn. It was in an idyllic location and the site had been developed really creatively. Small but perfectly formed, the barn had everything we needed and walks straight from the door. The private woodland was lovely, especially for an early morning or evening walk. Hillside Barn is absolutely gorgeous. We loved the quirkiness of this eco retreat and really got into the spirit of recycling, reducing and reusing everything - which actually didnt take much effort at all. The location is stunning and we enjoyed walks in the mountains right from the doorstep. We also drove a short distance to climb up Sugar Loaf. Beautiful, peaceful location and very comfortable. No need to use the car as surrounded with some lovely walks from your front door. My boxer dog was truly at home here and enjoyed his freedom. My older girls lived the surroundings and lived the environmentally friendly elements of this fantastic accommodation. Sad it was only a short stay.

The Brecon Beacons is a vast, mountainous and rural region of Wales. Stretching 42 miles from east to west and covering an area of 520 square miles, the Brecon Beacons is dominated by the National Park of the same name. Split into three main areas, the Black Mountain in the west, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr in the middle, and the Black Mountains in the east; each is a wild, bold and inspiring place to visit on holiday. With 1232 miles of public trails which includes the 95-mile-long Beacons Way, it’s a wayfarer’s delight. One of four Dark Skies Reserves in the UK (and one of 11 in the world), stargazers can delight in the open night sky, to enjoy the darkness in full splendour. The Fforest Fawr is a UNESCO Global Geopark because of its important geology and a need to conserve and protect the area from negative over development.

Stay at a self-catering cottage in the mountains and cascading woodlands or out on the moors; you can also stay in one of the Brecon Beacon’s lovely towns like Hay-on-Wye, Crickhowell, Llangorse or Brecon. Outdoor lovers will enjoy a choice of easy to challenging treks up and around Sugar Loaf Mountain, Carn Pica, Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad, Pen y Fan, or Hatterall Ridge (and many more besides). Take in uniquely Welsh attractions like Dan-yr-Ogof (the National Showcaves Centre for Wales), The Big Pit Mining Museum, Llanthony Priory, Carreg Cennen Castle, Fourteen Locks, and the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway. Wildlife abounds in the Brecon Beacons, and it’s a great place to spot red kites and discover the successful story of their reintroduction to the UK’s skies at the Red Kite Centre. There’s so much to do for outdoor lovers and extreme sports fans here, so why not book your self-catering holiday in the Brecon Beacons today?

Our holiday cottages across the Brecon Beacons have been carefully selected. From dog-friendly cottages in the countryside to large farmhouses on the mountainsides and everything in between, we have a holiday in the Brecon Beacons to suit you.
