Talgarth has easy access to trails which lead to waterfalls, mountains and woods making it perfect for those wanting to head out and about and avoid jumping in the car.

Gliding, walking and mountain biking enthusiasts will be in their element at this wonderful bolthole. Hop onto many well-trodden paths or explore off the beaten track and watch the Red Kites soar above your heads. Less than 2 miles from the Black Mountains Gliding Club, book in and head out for a glide or simply watch others in the air from the local common. Less than a mile from home the Pwll-y-Wrach nature reserve is a great place to explore with a picnic.

Puzzles and board games adorn the shelves in the oak-beamed lounge so you can challenge fellow guests to a game as you settle down in front of the wood burner. The second smaller lounge has a TV and armchairs for you to curl up in and find a moment of peace. Heading through to the kitchen cook up a storm on the electric oven or make your way into the breakfast room and rustle up a feast on the oil-fired Rayburn which is great for slow cooking; dine in the breakfast room and raise a glass to family times. A downstairs cloakroom is the final room on the ground floor before you head upstairs in search of the bedrooms. Two double bedrooms and a family room offer pleasant spots in which to rejuvenate for tomorrow’s plans. Decorated with classic charm and character, floral patterns create a homely ambience which flows throughout this storey. The family bathroom has a separate bath and shower so you can enjoy a soak or a quick freshen up.

Step outside and marvel at the blossoming blooms which fill the garden with fantastic colours and scents. Kick start the day with an al fresco coffee on the patio or spend evenings whiling away the hours with a BBQ feast. A large lawn sits just over the lane so you can invite your four-legged friend for a game of Fetch. Lock away your bikes in the storage provided.

Great place in a great little town with fantastic walks all around. Loved the style of the cottage and the huge front garden area is a massive bonus.

The Brecon Beacons is a vast, mountainous and rural region of Wales. Stretching 42 miles from east to west and covering an area of 520 square miles, the Brecon Beacons is dominated by the National Park of the same name. Split into three main areas, the Black Mountain in the west, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr in the middle, and the Black Mountains in the east; each is a wild, bold and inspiring place to visit on holiday. With 1232 miles of public trails which includes the 95-mile-long Beacons Way, it’s a wayfarer’s delight. One of four Dark Skies Reserves in the UK (and one of 11 in the world), stargazers can delight in the open night sky, to enjoy the darkness in full splendour. The Fforest Fawr is a UNESCO Global Geopark because of its important geology and a need to conserve and protect the area from negative over development.

Stay at a self-catering cottage in the mountains and cascading woodlands or out on the moors; you can also stay in one of the Brecon Beacon’s lovely towns like Hay-on-Wye, Crickhowell, Llangorse or Brecon. Outdoor lovers will enjoy a choice of easy to challenging treks up and around Sugar Loaf Mountain, Carn Pica, Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad, Pen y Fan, or Hatterall Ridge (and many more besides). Take in uniquely Welsh attractions like Dan-yr-Ogof (the National Showcaves Centre for Wales), The Big Pit Mining Museum, Llanthony Priory, Carreg Cennen Castle, Fourteen Locks, and the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway. Wildlife abounds in the Brecon Beacons, and it’s a great place to spot red kites and discover the successful story of their reintroduction to the UK’s skies at the Red Kite Centre. There’s so much to do for outdoor lovers and extreme sports fans here, so why not book your self-catering holiday in the Brecon Beacons today?

Our holiday cottages across the Brecon Beacons have been carefully selected. From dog-friendly cottages in the countryside to large farmhouses on the mountainsides and everything in between, we have a holiday in the Brecon Beacons to suit you.
