Nestled at the foot of the Skirrid, you will find Finmia on the eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park and near the Wye Valley. Step inside the open-plan space which has been well thought out,  offering a kitchenette with convection oven/grill with microwave, induction hob and fridge with ice compartment; a dining area with solid wooden stools along with comfortable armchairs for two and a wood burner. There is a built-in double bed with Smart TV where you can enjoy a film before a peaceful night’s rest. There is also a shower room with shower and WC and unusually, the property benefits from the luxury of under floor heating.

Outside you can enjoy the enclosed landscaped garden, where there is a private hot tub for two with cover, a luxurious multi-jet shower and a sauna, perfect for  relaxing after a strenuous day of walking. The exterior is completed with a comfortable seating area, a hammock, fire pit and a gas BBQ for cooking along with a storage box. We had a fantastic week at Finmia. The facilities were brilliant and we couldn't have been made more welcome by the owner. The set up is perfect with hot tub, sauna, BBQ, firepit and the views are awesome. Skirrid on one side and open fields with sheep on the other. It is such a quiet place and the view of the stars on a clear night is awesome. We had a week in the larger Sheepards hut. It was absolutely perfect. The quality of the hut along with all of the equipment was first rate. The staff were also so welcoming and friendly. We will be going back later this year.

The Brecon Beacons is a vast, mountainous and rural region of Wales. Stretching 42 miles from east to west and covering an area of 520 square miles, the Brecon Beacons is dominated by the National Park of the same name. Split into three main areas, the Black Mountain in the west, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr in the middle, and the Black Mountains in the east; each is a wild, bold and inspiring place to visit on holiday. With 1232 miles of public trails which includes the 95-mile-long Beacons Way, it’s a wayfarer’s delight. One of four Dark Skies Reserves in the UK (and one of 11 in the world), stargazers can delight in the open night sky, to enjoy the darkness in full splendour. The Fforest Fawr is a UNESCO Global Geopark because of its important geology and a need to conserve and protect the area from negative over development.

Stay at a self-catering cottage in the mountains and cascading woodlands or out on the moors; you can also stay in one of the Brecon Beacon’s lovely towns like Hay-on-Wye, Crickhowell, Llangorse or Brecon. Outdoor lovers will enjoy a choice of easy to challenging treks up and around Sugar Loaf Mountain, Carn Pica, Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad, Pen y Fan, or Hatterall Ridge (and many more besides). Take in uniquely Welsh attractions like Dan-yr-Ogof (the National Showcaves Centre for Wales), The Big Pit Mining Museum, Llanthony Priory, Carreg Cennen Castle, Fourteen Locks, and the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway. Wildlife abounds in the Brecon Beacons, and it’s a great place to spot red kites and discover the successful story of their reintroduction to the UK’s skies at the Red Kite Centre. There’s so much to do for outdoor lovers and extreme sports fans here, so why not book your self-catering holiday in the Brecon Beacons today?

Our holiday cottages across the Brecon Beacons have been carefully selected. From dog-friendly cottages in the countryside to large farmhouses on the mountainsides and everything in between, we have a holiday in the Brecon Beacons to suit you.
