This traditional old farmhouse offers a wonderfully peaceful and private base from which to explore the Cambrian Mountains, while only 2.5 miles from the amenities of Llanwrtyd Wells.

Escape from the stresses of modern life and unwind in perfect solitude, choosing this traditional farmhouse as your tranquil base. Perfectly secluded amongst the windswept wilderness of the Cambrian Mountains, the property sleeps six guests and is well placed for scenic walks and exhilarating hill climbs. The small town of Llanwrtyd Wells is 2.5 miles away, known for its small brewery, bog snorkelling and friendly pubs.

Set at the end of a 1-mile track shared only with the neighbouring farm, this charming holiday home is the ideal place to get away from it all. Characterised by a roaring open fire, timber beams and flagstone floors, the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is the hub of the home for relaxed meals and cosy nights snuggled up with a glass of wine in hand. A second lounge offers a serene place to catch up on some TV viewing, and there is a small walled garden for sipping drinks in the sunshine. Steep cottage-style stairs lead up to four bedrooms including a twin room that’s accessed via a single bedroom, all sharing a quirky first-floor bathroom and a downstairs shower room. Please note that there isn’t any mobile signal, but the property does have an honesty phone if needed.

Get back to nature and discover your surroundings, donning your walking boots to navigate the sweeping countryside and rugged hills, or treating yourself to a wild swim at Wolf’s Leap 7 miles away. Ystradffin (18 miles) is another excellent natural swimming spot in a wooded gorge that has double waterfalls. Try fly-fishing for wild brown trout on the Upper Irfon Beat, and why not take the 18-mile drive to RSPB Gwenffrwd-Dinas to spot red kites, dippers and grey wagtails as you explore the nature reserve.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The Cottage is a true escape from it all - with friendly horses and some sheep as the only neighbours, and the sound of the birds and running water from the river background noise. The Property is more spacious than appeared from the photos, which don't do it justice and it's very comfortable. There is a swimming spot in the river a shortish walkRead more away Hide

The Brecon Beacons is a vast, mountainous and rural region of Wales. Stretching 42 miles from east to west and covering an area of 520 square miles, the Brecon Beacons is dominated by the National Park of the same name. Split into three main areas, the Black Mountain in the west, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr in the middle, and the Black Mountains in the east; each is a wild, bold and inspiring place to visit on holiday. With 1232 miles of public trails which includes the 95-mile-long Beacons Way, it’s a wayfarer’s delight. One of four Dark Skies Reserves in the UK (and one of 11 in the world), stargazers can delight in the open night sky, to enjoy the darkness in full splendour. The Fforest Fawr is a UNESCO Global Geopark because of its important geology and a need to conserve and protect the area from negative over development.

Stay at a self-catering cottage in the mountains and cascading woodlands or out on the moors; you can also stay in one of the Brecon Beacon’s lovely towns like Hay-on-Wye, Crickhowell, Llangorse or Brecon. Outdoor lovers will enjoy a choice of easy to challenging treks up and around Sugar Loaf Mountain, Carn Pica, Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad, Pen y Fan, or Hatterall Ridge (and many more besides). Take in uniquely Welsh attractions like Dan-yr-Ogof (the National Showcaves Centre for Wales), The Big Pit Mining Museum, Llanthony Priory, Carreg Cennen Castle, Fourteen Locks, and the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway. Wildlife abounds in the Brecon Beacons, and it’s a great place to spot red kites and discover the successful story of their reintroduction to the UK’s skies at the Red Kite Centre. There’s so much to do for outdoor lovers and extreme sports fans here, so why not book your self-catering holiday in the Brecon Beacons today?

Our holiday cottages across the Brecon Beacons have been carefully selected. From dog-friendly cottages in the countryside to large farmhouses on the mountainsides and everything in between, we have a holiday in the Brecon Beacons to suit you.
