Located on a 100-acre working farm, in a gorgeous rural location, this property is the perfect place for a large family or group holiday in the Brecon Beacons. Set in the quiet village of Crai, nature lovers will be in their element as this is red kite country and these beautiful birds can often be seen swooping in the skies above. The lodge also offers half a mile of private fishing and there are walking and cycling routes in abundance. Brecon Beacons National Park is right on the doorstep and you can challenge yourself to climb Pen y Fan, 12 miles away, explore the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (7 miles) or hike some of the 90-kilometre Epynt Way with paths running directly from the cottage door. As night falls, the low levels of light pollution here mean that the dark skies above light up with stars – a perfect way to finish the day.

Upon entering, this simply lovely lodge-style cottage has cladded timber walls and feels immediately welcoming. You’ll find yourself in the hallway from which all rooms lead off. On the ground floor is the large, open-plan kitchen/lounge/diner with plenty of comfortable sofas for everyone to gather for an evening together. Ther’s also a large dining table and chairs for sociable mealtimes and a really well-equipped kitchen if you’re eating in. For after-dinner entertainment, challenge each other to a game of pool or watch a film. There’s also a fabulous twin room with rise and recline beds that can be pushed together to form a double and an en-suite wet room with shower, WC, rails and disabled alarm system. There is also a handy separate WC on the ground floor. Stairs from the hallway lead up to the first floor where you’ll find three further tastefully decorated and spacious bedrooms. There’s stunning king-size master bedroom with amazing views and an en-suite shower room as well a further king-size room and a triple room. All rooms have TVs for lazy mornings in and great views across the valleys. There is also a further bathroom on the first floor with bath and separate shower and the landing houses a very well-stocked bookshelf.

Outside, you’ll find some fantastic space. There are several, large grassy areas complete with trampoline and play equipment that is shared with the next-door cottage. There is also a patio area with furniture and a BBQ as well as an outdoor shared hot tub which is sheltered from the rain. You are also on the grounds of a working farm so there is plenty of surrounding countryside. This property's eco credentials include ground source heating, solar power and the hot tub is powered by an air source heat pump. It was built with high density timber cladding and the EV chargers run off a solar PV system and battery storage.

We enjoyed a 4 night break with family to celebrate a 90th birthday and had a wonderful time. The cottage is spacious and has great amenities. The location is great for rural walks and has gorgeous scenery. We had an issue with a shower head which was resolved quickly. The hot tub in the garden is huge and undercover.
