This picturesque holiday cottage is ideal for couples looking for a simple, tranquil and secluded holiday base, perfect for exploring the hills and mountains of the Brecon Beacons.

Set in a sunny position on the slopes of the Tor-y-Foel Mountain, this comfortable cottage is the ideal base for couples and young families looking to explore the spectacular Brecon Beacons National Park. Picture cosy evenings in front of the wood burner and busy days strolling along beautiful canal paths and through chocolate-box villages, enjoying local delicacies at a variety of friendly pubs and restaurants scattered throughout the area.

 

Simple yet well-equipped, the property is kept toasty and warm by the crackling wood burner that’s tucked within the stone fireplace. There are sofas and a table for drinking tea and playing board games, and the open-plan living space, down one step, also features a kitchen area with an oven, microwave and a fridge for preparing light suppers. Upstairs, the bedroom has high-beamed ceilings and features a double and a single bed to sleep three guests – two adults and one child. Completing the property is a downstairs bathroom with a shower-over-the-bath. This peaceful setting provides a soothing ambience for sipping your morning coffee on the patio, and the property shares a courtyard with the owner’s organic homestead so you’ll be able to enjoy homegrown seasonal produce when available.

 

Fill your itinerary with anything that takes your fancy, whether you are keen to embark on an adventure along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal from nearby Llangynidr 2.5 miles away, or enjoying kayaking, paddleboarding and other activities at Llangorse Lake, 8.5 miles away. Change pace and soak up some local history and culture in Brecon (11.5 miles), or venture to Abergavenny (14 miles) to visit the castle and museum. Railway enthusiasts will be in for a treat when journeying on the Brecon Mountain Railway, where you can take in the breathtaking scenery along the route from Pant, 17 miles away, to Torpantau.

Great location in a valley some 2 miles from the village of llangynidr. Ideal for peace and quiet or for the more energetic some good walks from the location up the lane and footpaths . There are OS maps available, to plan your trips into the mountains.

A wonderful retreat in the Welsh countryside. So peaceful and delightful waking up to birdsong and the lambs. Highly recommend and would love to return again.

We love Caer Hendre, this was our second visit (as a family of three) and we will book again. Its in a wonderfully secluded location with direct access to the hills but village and towns nearby - the accommodation is perfect for anyone who loves the outdoors. A lovely cottage with the right amount of basic needs for a base to explore the Brecon Beacons. Although the road leading to the place is a single track, which can be daunting the drive, the views and the peace and quiet of the area make it worth the journey. We booked very last minute for a long weekend away and we couldn't thank Pip and Gil enough. The cottage was exactly as advertised and they were very helpful and welcoming. It is in a beautiful area and was so peaceful. There were useful guides available in the cottage and all the amenities we needed. Would stay again.

We loved our stay at Cae'r Hendre! The cottage is cosy and homey - perfect to relax and enjoy a romantic Valentine's getaway. It was so peaceful to enjoy reading or playing games by the warmth of the fire while hearing the sheep bleating outside. Marvelous located cottage. Waking up with the sound of sheep and twirling swallows. The route from mainstreet to the cottage over a narrow path is an adventure but with great views. Pip and Gil were lovely hosts. Great stay for hikers and rest seekers.

The location is absolutely beautiful and a great base from which to explore the Brecon Beacons. The cottage is also beautiful, cosy and functional with a log burning stove for chilly evenings and wonderful views over the valley. A gem of a place!
