The beds were incredibly comfortable and the bathrooms spacious and well equipped. Downstairs was gorgeous, modern kitchen and vintage living room. The whole property oozed character and the surrounding countryside was wonderful. The owners were charming and his cooking was a dream. We would like to return sometime in the future.

The Rest is fabulous accommodation based in Tal-Y-Bont which is a great location. The host, Joy, made us feel so welcome and the food was out of this world. This is some of the best gourmet dining we have ever had and my Welsh lamb was the best I have ever had, anywhere, ever! The cottage is a lovely 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom accommodation with amplRead moree lounge, dining and kitchen space. There is all the facilities you want, TV, freesat, log burner, porch seating area and a well equipped kitchen. The location is straight out on to the canal with some lovely walks in either direction and some other walks a 10 minute drive away. Overall this was a fantastic stay, oh, and did I mention my Lamb?! The Brecon Beacons is a vast, mountainous and rural region of Wales. Stretching 42 miles from east to west and covering an area of 520 square miles, the Brecon Beacons is dominated by the National Park of the same name. Split into three main areas, the Black Mountain in the west, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr in the middle, and the Black Mountains in the east; each is a wild, bold and inspiring place to visit on holiday. With 1232 miles of public trails which includes the 95-mile-long Beacons Way, it’s a wayfarer’s delight. One of four Dark Skies Reserves in the UK (and one of 11 in the world), stargazers can delight in the open night sky, to enjoy the darkness in full splendour. The Fforest Fawr is a UNESCO Global Geopark because of its important geology and a need to conserve and protect the area from negative over development.

Stay at a self-catering cottage in the mountains and cascading woodlands or out on the moors; you can also stay in one of the Brecon Beacon’s lovely towns like Hay-on-Wye, Crickhowell, Llangorse or Brecon. Outdoor lovers will enjoy a choice of easy to challenging treks up and around Sugar Loaf Mountain, Carn Pica, Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad, Pen y Fan, or Hatterall Ridge (and many more besides). Take in uniquely Welsh attractions like Dan-yr-Ogof (the National Showcaves Centre for Wales), The Big Pit Mining Museum, Llanthony Priory, Carreg Cennen Castle, Fourteen Locks, and the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway. Wildlife abounds in the Brecon Beacons, and it’s a great place to spot red kites and discover the successful story of their reintroduction to the UK’s skies at the Red Kite Centre. There’s so much to do for outdoor lovers and extreme sports fans here, so why not book your self-catering holiday in the Brecon Beacons today?

Our holiday cottages across the Brecon Beacons have been carefully selected. From dog-friendly cottages in the countryside to large farmhouses on the mountainsides and everything in between, we have a holiday in the Brecon Beacons to suit you.
