Perfect for couples seeking a romantic break form the hustle and bustle of everyday, escape to the country and enjoy one of the many walks from the door, then settle down at this charming abode. Sitting in 15 acres of grounds, lap up the peace and quiet and switch off.

Framed by blossom trees lining the driveway, this lodge is a picture-perfect hideaway for a couple or solo holidaymaker and their canine companion. This one-storey retreat is all about cosiness, with underfloor heating, a wood burner and dressing gowns all designed to keep you snug. And you won’t have to go far to find fantastic walks either – simply amble down to the riverside to set out on the Usk Valley Walk.

Throughout the cottage, subtle tones create a calming atmosphere, while flagstone flooring and exposed ceiling beams give it traditional appeal. The open-plan living area is an inviting place to relax. Step down two steps, close your eyes and drift off for 40 winks in the rocking chair or sink into the comfortable leather sofas to watch TV. On a warm sunny day, throw open the patio doors to let in some fresh air. In the bedroom, curl up with a good book in the armchair or settle down for a restful night’s sleep in the double bed. The lodge sits in 15 acres of the owner’s garden. You’ll have your own private patio, where you can fire up the BBQ on a sultry summer evening.

To uncover secrets of the past, head 6 miles to the majestic Raglan Castle. Climb the Great Tower on its moated island and explore the cellar beneath the castle, which used to store some of the finest wines in Europe. You’re also well placed to explore the Brecon Beacons, with its wonderful market towns, charming villages and sublime national park, full of epic walks, limestone caves and waterfalls.

Holly Lodge was fabulous we felt welcome from the moment we arrived, the lodge had everything we needed and more, the surrounding fields for walking our dog was an added bonus, the lodge was bigger than we thought and although next to the owners property felt very private. The views from the lodge were beautiful even on the poor weather days.

Would highly recommend Holly Lodge for both location and standards. The lodge was spotless on arrival and the welcome pack was a nice touch. We could not have asked for more from a holiday cottage and enjoyed it so much we are already booking for next year.

Note: As the postcode is used to identify the general area of the property, it may not always reflect its precise location, therefore please only use this map as a guide.

The Brecon Beacons is a vast, mountainous and rural region of Wales. Stretching 42 miles from east to west and covering an area of 520 square miles, the Brecon Beacons is dominated by the National Park of the same name. Split into three main areas, the Black Mountain in the west, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr in the middle, and the Black Mountains in the east; each is a wild, bold and inspiring place to visit on holiday. With 1232 miles of public trails which includes the 95-mile-long Beacons Way, it’s a wayfarer’s delight. One of four Dark Skies Reserves in the UK (and one of 11 in the world), stargazers can delight in the open night sky, to enjoy the darkness in full splendour. The Fforest Fawr is a UNESCO Global Geopark because of its important geology and a need to conserve and protect the area from negative over development.

Stay at a self-catering cottage in the mountains and cascading woodlands or out on the moors; you can also stay in one of the Brecon Beacon’s lovely towns like Hay-on-Wye, Crickhowell, Llangorse or Brecon. Outdoor lovers will enjoy a choice of easy to challenging treks up and around Sugar Loaf Mountain, Carn Pica, Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad, Pen y Fan, or Hatterall Ridge (and many more besides). Take in uniquely Welsh attractions like Dan-yr-Ogof (the National Showcaves Centre for Wales), The Big Pit Mining Museum, Llanthony Priory, Carreg Cennen Castle, Fourteen Locks, and the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway. Wildlife abounds in the Brecon Beacons, and it’s a great place to spot red kites and discover the successful story of their reintroduction to the UK’s skies at the Red Kite Centre. There’s so much to do for outdoor lovers and extreme sports fans here, so why not book your self-catering holiday in the Brecon Beacons today?

Our holiday cottages across the Brecon Beacons have been carefully selected. From dog-friendly cottages in the countryside to large farmhouses on the mountainsides and everything in between, we have a holiday in the Brecon Beacons to suit you.
