This fabulous woodland cabin is the ideal retreat for up to four people (and a furry friend), offering peace and tranquillity, with wildlife all around. Set on a working farm and livery, it’s located less than 2 miles from the picturesque town of Usk, known as ‘The Town of Flowers’, which boasts a ruined Norman castle as well as shops, tea rooms and pubs. For walkers, hikers and cyclists, the Wye Valley National Landscape lies to the east, and the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park to the west. The city of Newport is just 14 miles to the south, with Cardiff 26.5 miles away. Visit the iconic Tintern Abbey (16.5 miles) or the Big Pit National Coal Museum (18.5 miles), and spend days out discovering the castles, Roman sites and National Trust properties that lie within 20 miles.
Nestled among mature trees, this romantic escape is set over a single storey and is clad in timber for an authentically rustic appearance. From the car park, follow the sloping path and head up the three wooden steps to the deck, then across to the patio doors. Stroll into the open-plan living space, which has gorgeous views of the woodland, and is charmingly cosy, with soft seating, a wood burner and a Smart TV for entertainment. To one side, the kitchen area includes bar stools for dining and is equipped with everything necessary to create tasty holiday meals, including an air fryer and that all-important coffee machine. The king-size bedroom is a welcoming, restful space with hotel-quality linens. A sleek shower room completes this irresistible interior.
Spend time lounging on your spacious deck, soaking in the chlorine-free, wood-fired hot tub, or cooking in the wood-fired pizza oven. The hot tub is protected by a sheltering canopy, and pretty lighting ensures the outside space can be used well after the stars have come out. Wander down the wooden steps to find the fire pit, which you can also use for cooking. There are woodland walks from the door, and if you wish, you can meet the farm’s horses and small herd of alpacas. The landscaping throughout has been creatively and carefully designed with biodiversity in mind, and the areas are humming and buzzing with life during the spring and summer months. Listen out for birds, including woodpeckers, finches and owls, and look for buzzards and red kites in the skies above, as well as squirrels, foxes and hedgehogs in the woodland. Making arrivals and departures straightforward, private parking for one car is available.
