Switch off and savour a slower pace of life at this handcrafted retreat set in the foothills of the Black Mountains. You’ll be surrounded by mature meadows and beautiful countryside views, making it lovely for a peaceful solo or romantic trip. It’s part of a small glamping site with only two cabins, beside a gently flowing brook where you can go paddling in the summer months. From the doorstep, explore scenic walks across open countryside towards Talgarth Common (3 miles), Hay Bluff (5.5 miles) and Twmpa (5 miles). Glasbury (3 miles) has a lovely riverside beach for wild swimming and canoeing, while the vibrant market town of Hay-on-Wye (6.5 miles) has farmers’ market, arts and crafts, traditional cinema and events at The Globe. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the mountain biking, pony trekking and water sports available at Llangorse Lake (7.5 miles), the largest lake in South Wales.

Arriving at the field, you’ll park in a gravelled area at the top before following a track that skirts the meadow down to the cabin, with wheelbarrows provided to help transport luggage. Along the way, a wooden lodge to the left houses your private bathroom, complete with a shower and WC – just what you need after a day of exploring. Inside the cabin, a cosy open-plan space welcomes you with a whimsical, magical theme, featuring beautiful wall coverings and fairy lights woven along the ceiling beams. A colourful double bed promises a restful night’s sleep, while a small wood burner keeps you cosy on chillier evenings. There’s a compact kitchenette for whipping up simple meals, along with a table and chairs for two. A private compostable WC is next to the cabin.

Outside, the front decked area is perfect for al fresco dining with its picnic table and fire pit. A second further decked platform leads down towards the brook for peaceful moments by the water. You’re free to roam the surrounding meadows and soak up the tranquil rural setting.
