A quintessential stone and dark wood lodge that sleeps seven in spacious luxury near the banks of the River Wye one mile up a private drive on the Rhosferig Estate. There’s plenty to do right here including red kite spotting, but to stock up or simply venture further afield, the attractive market town of Builth Wells is 2 miles away – it even has a cinema! The Wye Valley Walk is right on your doorstep and the Elan Valley Lakes are also worth a visit. While you can’t fish from the lodge itself, day tickets may be available to nearby private beats if angling’s your thing.
The apparently simple rustic exterior of this lodge belies its seriously impressive interiors – it’s a family-friendly holiday property sleeping seven on a private estate in rural isolation. The downstairs living room has a glorious, vaulted wood ceiling with beams, impressive stone inglenook which now houses a wood burner, and offers plentiful comfortable seating, masses of space and hunting paraphernalia. From here, double doors lead to the window-lined snooker room, with the same stunning River Wye views as the lounge. If you need to work or check in (or just have a read and a nap!), there’s a charming study downstairs or you could set up in the expansive kitchen/diner with its cosy Aga, sleek modern kitchen for easy cooking with a table at one end. One king-size and one twin bedroom are also to be found down here; both have wonderfully calming, neutral decor and share a shower room with WC. Upstairs is another single bedroom with a quaint sloping ceiling plus the standout master king-size bedroom complete with doors opening onto its very own balcony space and high wood-lined ceilings and painted beams. You can lie in bed and gaze out over the river and countryside beyond. Holiday heaven!
The lodge is surround by a paved veranda, with furniture for both relaxing and dining just outside the front. There’s also a well-tended, enclosed garden largely set to grass with a built-in charcoal BBQ and fire pit area.
