If the Brecon Beacons are beckoning you, this is just the house for an active family holiday in the exquisite Carmarthenshire countryside. Cast a line in the River Towy, famous for its salmon fishing, just 1.8 miles away. For fabulous views of the central mountains, cycle across the National Park following the old Roman Road from Llandovery (1.6 miles) down to Llandeilo, 13 miles away. There are lots of historic castles to explore, including the eerily romantic ruins of Carreg Cennen 18 miles away, perched on a rocky hilltop at the edge of a 100 metre high cliff.
As you arrive at the extended and refurbished Lodge of the surrounding Henllys Estate you enter the lobby with space to remove coats and boots. From here the large lounge opens out into the perfect place for the whole group to gather together on the comfy sofas. The central wood fired stove distributes its warming glow and creates a room divide ensuring that there is space for those wanting to settle in front of the TV to watch a good film and those wishing to challenge each other to a game of table football or one of the many board games supplied. Local artwork adorns the walls of this well-presented property. Wander through into the fully-equipped kitchen with a double width fridge freezer and larder cupboard allowing larger groups to stock up on essentials. There’s a dining table to seat eight guests by French doors, offering views across the garden. There is also a convenient downstairs toilet.
Heading upstairs via the wooden staircase to four bedrooms. A master king-size with en-suite shower room, a double with en-suite shower room plus a further double and a twin bunk room. There's a family bathroom with shower over the bath.
The French doors from the kitchen open up onto a well-kept large garden with views across the surrounding countryside. There is a children’s swing set to keep the little ones occupied as well as plenty of lawn space for games and play time. A slate patio area has a garden table and chairs along with a BBQ for al fresco dining. The garden has lawns, flower beds with local plants, a pond full of wildlife and a birdfeeder. To the side of the main house is an outhouse/utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. A secure shed is perfect for storing bikes and an e-bike charger is available. There’s ample parking with an Electric Vehicle charger.
With every attempt made to offer environmentally friendly accommodation the lodge uses heating from ground source heating pumps and will soon have solar panels working to heat the water. All cleaning products are Eco-friendly too.
