A characterful cottage set in undulating countryside just 9 miles from the bustling market town of Hay-on-Wye. This cottage features a cosy living area, enjoys access to colourful gardens and is perfect for couples keen to explore the cultural, historic and natural attractions in the Brecon Beacon National Park and those dotted along both sides of the England/Wales border.

The two-storey cottage, which adjoins its owners’ home, is located off a quiet country lane and is surrounded by colourful gardens that are rich with wildlife. The cottage’s interior is light and welcoming, with contemporary rustic furnishings scattered about rooms with original features including exposed stone walls and wooden beams. The lounge is cosy all year round, whether the wood burner is lit or the front door is thrown open to let in warm air. The kitchen/diner, which is full of period features, is a foodie’s dream for a romantic meal. A spacious and stylish shower room - perfect for a rejuvenating soak - stands nearby. A narrow staircase leads up to the first floor, home to a plush double bedroom set in the eaves, complete with wooden flooring and finished in soft, soothing tones. Guests have use of the small terrace patio at the front of the cottage and are welcome to explore the grounds.

The cottage sits just inside the English border and the area surrounding it is perfect for cyclists and walkers, with plenty of paths and trails to follow from virtually the front door. Hay-on-Wye’s (9 miles) bustling streets are a must for literature lovers, while Hereford (16 miles) is awash with local produce that will bring a range of flavours to evening meals. Brecon Beacons National Park (7 miles) is home to impressive peaks, wooded valleys and umpteen bodies of water.

This cosy, little cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway from the busy city life. It is nestled between endless fields of farmland. The cottage has all the amenities needed to cook, the water pressure in the shower is incredible and it has a real fireplace with a stack of firewood to keep you warm. The cottage is in a quiet rural location, an ideal place to relax or as the starting point for cycle rides and walks. Hereford and Hay, the Wye Valley and Black Mountains are within easy reach. The cottage has been constructed to a high standard, in particular the hot water was very efficient and the lighting levels were good enabling us to read in the evenings with no problem.
