Treat yourself and your family to a luxurious holiday on the Welsh border. This townhouse is situated right next to Hay Castle in Hay-on-Wye, a lovely town with an annual festival and plenty of bookshops. There’s space for a mixed group or a family trip with grandparents, and the dogs are welcome to come along.

You’ll enter the property through a side door down a passage, which leads into the lounge. It’s immediately timeless, welcoming and cosy with exposed brick and a wood burner, plus an archway which leads through to the kitchen/diner. This room has a large table with room for everyone, and it ends with bi-fold glass doors to the garden, so you’ll get lots of natural light. The last room on the ground floor is a lobby, which has a WC and laundry facilities. Head upstairs for the bedrooms. The first has a king-size bed and a Juliet balcony, then an en-suite bathroom with a handheld shower over the roll-top bath. The next bathroom also has a king-size bed, a window seat, exposed beams and an en-suite shower room with a walk-in shower. Finally, there’s a twin bedroom and a family shower room. Check out the gorgeous garden, which combines a lawn with a patio area. There are sun loungers on the lawn, and the patio has an outdoor dining area and a BBQ. Everything is secured by a wooden fence.

You’ll be staying right in the heart of Hay-on-Wye, about 100 metres from the castle and 100 metres from the river. It’s a lovely place to amble around, so why not check out local shops and eateries? The Bannau Brycheiniog National Park is 13.5 miles away, great for day trips, long walks and picnics.

21 Castle Street, Hay on Wye is a little gem, little on the outside and spacious on the inside. Excellent quality throughout with everything we needed. Downstairs is perfect for socialising and the three bathrooms are usual for three bedrooms but very much liked. Great to be so close to the lovely independent shops. The cinema is well worth a visitRead more, as is the castle guided tour. So many book shops to browse and enjoy. Very dog friendly and super walks to the river and along to the meadow. Hide

The cottage was like our own 'The Holiday' cottage. Absolutely stunning, from the minute we opened the front door we were in love. The layout and presentation of the property is amazing. Kitchen was our main room, family time, cooking, completing puzzles, playing scrabble on overall it was our best room where we spent a lot of time during our 6 nigRead moreht stay. Bathrooms and bedrooms were spotless, small furnishings and ornaments all thought through finished with luxury textiles. Highly recommend x Hide

Fabulous cottage. Very centrally located, well equipped and very comfortable. We stayed for the Winter Hay Festival and this was the perfect base for us. Would definitely stay again.

It is a well equipped , clean and very comfortable place . Location is very good if one wants to stay within the city . Close to shops but far from the noisy places . Only negative is Internet speed needs to improve.
