Stylishly designed from top to toe, this sweet cottage combines old beams and an inglenook wood burner with a chic, modern/retro vibe. Located in the heart of Hay-on-Wye, renowned as the town of books, it’s ideal for couples, friends or small families, plus a canine companion.
Traditional from the outside, this terraced stone cottage has an open-plan interior in which the glowing wood burner is the focal point. The compact kitchen at the far end is fitted with everything you’ll need to make stress-free snacks and suppers, and there’s a dining table for four by the window. Choose whether to relax on the sofa in front of the fire and Smart TV, or stroll into the delightful snug with its array of books and board games. On the first floor, reached by an open staircase, you’ll find two bedrooms, a king-size (with a memory-foam mattress) and a twin, sharing a spacious bathroom with a shower over the bath. At the back of the property, and being part of a terrace of cottages, access to the small enclosed garden is via a set of steps and along the edge of the neighbours garden area into the private open-aspect terrace, where there’s furniture for you to enjoy meals or drinks in the fresh air.
Spend time exploring the charming town of Hay-on-Wye where, as well as its enormous variety of book shops, you'll find intriguing boutiques, bohemian cafes and a variety of places to eat and drink. Visit its 12th century castle, now a centre for culture, arts and education, or stroll 0.5 miles to the Warren, a meadow by the river where you can picnic and swim. If you’re feeling more energetic, you can hire a canoe or kayak and paddle along the River Wye, cycle the quiet country roads or hike the Wye Valley Walk, the Offa’s Dyke Path and the Black Mountains.
