With spectacular country views and heaps of historic character, this remote and tranquil cottage has an impressive interior and a south-facing balcony on which you can enjoy drinks and meals alfresco. Located on the Llanover Estate, with walks and cycling from the front door, it’s ideal for a family getaway or gathering of friends.
The period features of this Grade II-listed holiday property are evident the moment you step through its large wooden doors. The lounge, for example, still boasts its old oak panelling, beamed ceiling and huge inglenook fireplace with a wood burner. This cheerful space is perfect for gathering together and enjoying a board game or watching a movie on the Smart TV. Alternatively, the snug/study next door is ideal for quiet times. The bright galley kitchen offers the cook views across the valley, and two steps take you up to the dining room, where there’s another wood burner and a table for six. A winding stone staircase leads to the first floor and its three fabulous bedrooms: one king-size, and two 2’6” twin zip-and-link beds that can be turned into a king-size on request. They share a family bathroom. Step through the kitchen door to the south-facing terrace, from which you have incredible views of lush farmland and woodland. You’re provided with a BBQ and a dining table, so you can serve up an al fresco treat and sit back in style.
The estate is on the edge of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park where there’s much to explore, from deep caves to high peaks. For a great meal and some interesting shops, the market town of Abergavenny is just 3 miles, while quaint Crickhowell is 8 miles. For days out, the Big Pit at Blaenavon is 6 miles, and the Brecon Mountain Railway is 22 miles.
