A tastefully appointed barn conversion with blissful countryside vistas, nestled in a cluster of traditional farm buildings on the fringes of Llangorse. This elegant country abode is perfect for outdoorsy families or couples escaping into nature with their furry companion. Crunch over leaves as you traverse the woodland trails framing Llangorse Lake (2.5 miles), before pouring a tipple and stretching out weary feet by the crackling wood burner.

This rural property features a stylish country house interior with earthy neutral hues, well-lived leather textures, and checked soft fabrics. Shrug off coats in the hallway then and perch on the wooden pew to unlace muddy boots. Pad into the spacious lounge/diner and stretch out on the plump seating. Throw another log on the wood burner and blether over a pre-dinner snack board. Celebrating something special? Slide out the polished wooden dining chairs and settle in for a grand feast overlooking the countryside beyond. Rustle up dessert in the wooden kitchen or recline at the breakfast table and flick through a local guidebook. After supper, escape to the wonderfully sociable family games room. Get competitive with a game of pool or table football then curl up on the squishy sofas with a film. Completing the property are two stylish bedrooms. Choose from an airy double with coordinated wooden furniture or an adaptable super-king/twin – each with an en-suite for added privacy. Outside, sip your morning coffee from the raised terrace with tranquil views across the Brecon Beacons.

Outdoor enthusiasts will be in their elements gliding along the rippling waters of Llangorse Lake (2.5 miles) aboard a Canadian canoe or trotting through the emerald landscape on a guided pony trek from the Llangorse Multi Activity Centre (2.5 miles). Venture to Crickhowell (11 miles) to scope out the eateries serving up seasonal menus and fine wines.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double, 1 twin zip-and-link (that can be made into a super-king-size on request before arrival)

Absolutely brilliant rental. One of the best appointed places we have stayed. It's in the middle of nowhere, which means no walking to the shops but makes for the relaxing stay we were looking for. The views are fantastic.

Fantastic beautiful cottage, so rural and peaceful, great facilities, very spacious and clean and cosy. Highly recommend especially in the winter months, shame it wasnt snowing. Will definitely stay at The Granary again if they'll have me.

Comfortable cottage with stunning views. Pubs and lake in easy walking distance even for us oldies (72), plenty of walking routes in the area and entertainment in the cottage. We had a great time, including Rufus the dog.
