It’s an ideal base for exploring the beautiful Usk Valley (6 miles), the Black Mountains (15 miles) and the Brecon Beacons. Visit the nearby vibrant market town of Abergavenny (3 miles), where you can discover the ancient castle, and enjoy wonderful local produce from the weekly farmers’ market.

This impressive barn offers a private entrance into a lobby where you can leave coats and boots, or clean muddy paws. The barn has been sympathetically restored and is filled with a perfect mix of country-style charm and comfortable contemporary furnishings. Relax in the striking open-plan living space, perfect for families or friends to socialise, offering peace to unwind on the plush sofas. Spend the evening watching TV, and on chilly evenings, throw a log onto the wood burner to keep you warm. The kitchen is off from the dining area and has all you need to prepare your home-cooked favourites. When it is time to sleep, you can choose from three attractive bedrooms: one double and two twin rooms. A bathroom with a shower over the bath and a separate shower room, both with a WC, complete the offer of this lovely barn. French doors from the living room lead out to an enclosed garden with a charcoal BBQ and outdoor furniture, making it a delightful spot for al fresco dining in fine weather.

Soak up the history and culture of the area with a visit to nearby Blaenavon World Heritage Site and the Big Pit National Coal Museum (10 miles), the 900-year-old ruins at Llanthony Priory (11 miles), and Raglan Castle (12 miles). Foodies can indulge in a great selection of pubs and restaurants showcasing menus created with seasonal local produce. Annual events in the area include the Abergavenny Food Festival, Hay Book Festival, Green Man and the Brecon Jazz Festival.

Lovely cottage is on a farm and suited ourselves and the dogs for the weekend, really lovely welcoming host who gave us some fresh eggs from her hens. Great location, dark skies and wonderful views

Staying at the Granary ( Buttercup barn) on Werngochlyn Farm was one of the best holidays my family have had. My regret is not finding this magical place earlier when my children were young. There is so much to do and see including a swimming pool and a games room surrounded by beautiful animals. What I really loved was being able to see and walk tRead moreo the Skirrid Mountain from The Granary just a few fields away. Maggie is very welcoming and always on hand should there be any problems. We stayed in the Granary. It comfortable with plenty of room and equipment for six of us. We used the pool and games room every day. An ideal centre for exploring the area and a lovely garden to sit in when you just want to relax and enjoy the scenery. Maggie the owner was very friendly and helpful. I'd recommend it for a perfect family holiday.

Granary Cottage had lovely views over countryside and Skirrid. Kitchen new and well appointed. Lounge/diner with logs for wood burner, chilly in the evenings in an old stone cottage. Large TV, swimming pool, hot tub and games room all used by family. Eggs to collect and goats to feed. Loads to do in area, once over the bumpy farm track, canoeing, bRead moreoating, steam train, Big Pit mine, wild water swimming, zip wire. A really lovely peaceful place to stay. The Granary felt like home from home, and we had everything we needed for the week. Lots of animals, a playpark and the pool to keep children happy, and close to Abergavenny for shopping.

We had the nicest stay! The place is adorable!! I want to go back. I never wanted to leave. Maggie the host was so lovely and friendly and made us feel welcome! The farm is gorgeous! And the surroundings are beautiful. The cottage was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Loved it so much!!!
