A stonework cottage brimming with traditional character and surrounded by lush private grounds overlooking the River Tawe, this rural hideaway is perfect for a small family or group gathering in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Hike through the rugged mountain terrain and past a glistening valley lake on The Llyn y Fan Fawr Walk, then fire up the charcoal BBQ and enjoy a sizzling al fresco feast in your leafy garden.

Hidden down a quiet country lane, this 1800s property features a welcoming interior with beamed ceilings, a rustic exposed brick wall, and a warm country home feel. Store outdoor gear at the front door then head into the airy farmhouse kitchen with feature tiling and whip up a post-adventure snack board. Tuck into a hearty meal gathered at the wooden table overlooking the garden. After a day of exploring, return to the warmth of the flickering wood burner and kick up weary legs on the comfortable sofas to enjoy a pre-dinner snooze or gather here for an evening tipple. Retreat upstairs and steal a moment of peace on the landing reading nook before turning in for the night. Choose from two well-presented bedrooms, including a double and a twin, each with pretty views across the garden. Early risers can sip their morning coffee and bask in the sun from the patio.

We had a lovely stay at Penrock. The cottage was well laid out - lots of useful space for us and the owners had taken every step to make us comfortable. The views of the Beacons from the lounge are truly spectacular and we loved being in that part of the Beacons. We did some adventure sports locally and walked in the National Park - both activitiesRead more we want to do again. We also went to the local pub one night - which we would also recommend. We hope to return soon for a longer stay. Hide

A lovely cottage with surrounding area. Unfortunately due to the central heating system of a coal fueld rayburn, it meant that the cottage was cold for most of the time as it was very difficult to get going, we managed this once but took us approx 3 hours. If we had gone in summer the cottage would have been perfect. Just not ideal in winter and unRead morefortunately feel it was overpriced as we were cold most of the time. I wouldnt recommend staying here in winter unless you are savvy with a rayburn. Hide

Absolutely stunning cottage, fantastic location tucked away on the banks of a river. Lovely walks right out of the front door. The cottage had everything you need, the log burner a center piece for cosy cold nights. Enclosed private garden with views of the Beacons perfect for my dog. Amazing star filled skies on clear nights. I have a personal polRead moreicy of going to new places every year and never revisiting places I have stayed, saying that I would return to Penrock. Hide
