Explore the mighty walking trails of the Black Mountains and the Wye Valley from this characterful farmhouse which retains many of its original features and is sure to please family and friends coming to stay.

Embrace open plan living with the living/dining area which is a great place to socialise with comfortable seating in the form of two armchairs and two sofas placed to face the Smart TV. The dining area is elegant with a long table seating eight and decor blending seamlessly with the feature exposed stone fireplace. Next door is the country-style kitchen which has a range style oven and hob, where you can cook up a storm to serve for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition, there is a kitchen island which means you can have friends help to prepare the food which doubles as a breakfast bar. There is also a handy utility room downstairs featuring a washing machine and fridge freezer, as well as additional storage space during your stay. Finally, there is a downstairs WC for convenience. Upstairs the first of the bedrooms is furnished with a king-size bed in front of a beautiful exposed brick wall and boasts an en-suite shower. There are a further two king-sized rooms which can be made up as twins upon request, as well as a spacious double. Completing the property is a family bathroom which features a bathtub and a shower overhead. Outside is a patio area with ample space to entertain large groups with seating and a BBQ for the summer months, as well as a blissful hot tub for evening relaxation. The farmhouse also benefits from use of a fully enclosed field with a fire put, and a games barn with a pool table and table tennis which will be popular with guests of all ages.

To get to know the local area, you can visit the market town of Hay-on-Wye which is less than 4 miles from the farmhouse to explore the much-loved bookshops and independent cafes in the area. For a more adventurous day trip, why not pack a picnic for a hike on the Black Mountains walk, selecting a peak along the way to climb to a fantastic viewpoint. Take a trip to Llangorse Lake (17 miles) where an array of watersports are on offer for a day to remember, including stand up paddleboarding and sailing.

Pentre Mawr was stunning, exactly as promised and so much more! Meryl & Andrew are wonderful hosts. Our month there was truly a home away from home.

We had a fantastic week. Pentre-Mawr was perfect for our family holiday. The garden really is fully enclosed so it was stress free with a dog. The house was well equipped and there is so much space. Thank you very much.

Excellent property in a lovely rural location. Pentre Mawr is a large farmhouse which can easily accomodate 8 persons (we were 6 adults and 2 dogs). Large and fully equipped kitchen. The owner really has thought about everything. Lovely large hot tub. We had a wonderfully relaxing long weekend break.

Fantastic property. Never been to a holiday cottage that is so well equipped. The kitchen has absolutely everything you could ever need to make a lovely meal. The views from the house are fabulous. Great lot of games in the house to keep children and adults entertained including wii, board games and games room. Lovely added extra of the hot tub. We had a wonderful stay at Pentre Mawr. Meryl was on hand to answer any questions and provided clear instructions for gaining access, leaving the property etc. The accommodation is stunning, with plenty of space for all of us. Thank you so much, we would highly recommend.
