Escape to South Wales for a romantic getaway in this charming cottage for two. Just 3.5 miles from the bustling town of Abergavenny, this is an ideal base for active types with climbing, horse riding, birdwatching, swimming and walking all available in the local area. With an enclosed garden for dogs, stabling available for horses and shared use of an indoor heated pool, this is a home from home for guests on both two and four legs.
Inside, the cottage is warm and welcoming, with exposed beams, a charming stable door and plenty of warm pine throughout. Prepare romantic meals for two in the delightful kitchen area, before dining at the round table. Later, sink into one of the inviting armchairs and settle in for a quiet night in front of the TV while the wood burner-effect electric fire creates a cosy atmosphere. When it’s time for bed, head upstairs to the twin bedroom nestled under a low sloping roof (can be made into a super king-size bed on request). There’s also a handy shower room. Outside, the enclosed garden boasts stunning rural views for al fresco dining in the sunshine, while the shared heated pool in the barn is great in all weathers(opens early April - early November). For guests with horses, three stables lie in sight of the cottage, with plenty of space for grazing too.
Set along a small country lane, this cottage makes a wonderful base for both walking and birdwatching, with buzzards and red kites often spotted. Numerous walks can be enjoyed directly from the cottage, with the summit of Sugar Loaf (5 miles) offering panoramic views over the Cotswolds, the Brecon Beacons and the Bristol Channel. The thriving town of Abergavenny has a fantastic range of pubs, restaurants and cafes, while the other local attractions of Tretower Castle (9.5 miles), the Big Pit museum (11 miles) and Llanover Gardens (8.5 miles) promise romantic days out.
