Enjoy paddling at The Warren, the local river beach, or hire a kayak further down the river at Glasbury. For walkers and cyclists head to the Brecon Beacons National Park for plenty of walks and places to explore by bike, whilst the Wye Valley has canoeing, shooting, river and lake fishing. There are a wealth of attractions including the Monmouth and Brecon Canal, South Wales Borderers Museum and Abergavenny Castle and Museum. The living area features an oak over-mantle over a stone fireplace with its original bread oven, whilst oak beams, low ceilings and stone windowsills throughout echo the traditional decor. The dining table seats three, and the comfortable sofa and reclining chairs face the open fire, the perfect place from which to enjoy a film. Excellent location. Very private and remote. IMPORTANT TO KNOW, not suitable for tall people. My husband kept banging his head on the beams and low doorways. Must have a 4x4 or off roading experience to get to the cottage. We did manage to get there with a van, but would have struggled in wet weather/after rain. Absolutely amazing place. Love the remoteness, closeness to beautiful walks and surrounding fields. We had the best time. Fenced garden is perfect for dogs, and also the stair gate was very helpful to keep dogs downstairs. We would love to come back at some point!

Cottage is in an ideal location for some peace and quiet. It is not luxurious but ticks all the boxes for every day living needs with warmth and comfort. If you are taking a pet again it is ideal as the garden is enclosed. Overall it was everything we wanted and hoped for in a week away in Wales. We've stayed in there for a week, lovely cottage in very rural location. Getting there can be a bit tricky, do not use sat navs but go with directions from the email. No washing machine, no WiFi but there's good 4/5G coverage. I can easily recommend if you want a quiet, cosy time of. Nothing better than a nice evening, open fire and a drink.

We loved our stay at Yr Allt. Fabulous location, wonderful isolated cottage on the side of rolling hills. Fantastic views in all directions. Miles of walking straight from the door, no need to take the vehicle out at all. The cottage is well equipped. We had wonderful weather all week and did not want to leave, we would live there tomorrow. We can'Read moret wait to book for next year. Great place to relax, switch off and read a good book or two. Our labrador Bertie had a wonderful time. Hide

Fabulous location for walkers or people seeking seclusion but close enough to all amenities . Perfect for dogs so long as they don't chase livestock , lots of sheep and ponies in the area . Our week was mainly wet but we still found plenty to entertain ourselves . Good cafes , pubs and restaurants neat to hand.

Hopefully the fact we have stayed here 8 times over the years says it all. If you want peace and quiet look no further. Walks are plentiful right from the door, if you need supplies Hay-on-Wye is only a short drive away. The perfect getaway cottage.
