A quirky meeting hall built in 1926, which has been transformed into a delightful holiday home, creating a super base for exploring the stunning Welsh countryside.

Set in Monmouthshire, between the peaks of the Skirrid (3.5 miles) and the Sugar Loaf (3.5 miles) on the Black Mountains of South Wales, this quirky cottage lies in the peaceful hamlet of Pantygelli with the main accommodation on one level. It’s perfectly placed for couples or families with canine companions who love to be surrounded by nature, wildlife, and beckoning hilltops for bracing walks together. There’s a popular pub with food opposite the property and shops within 3 miles.

Enter this charming holiday property, a sympathetic conversion with spacious open-plan living retaining original wooden floorboards, an elegant front porch, and wood panelling. Cook up a storm in the stylish well-equipped kitchen, and catch up on the day around the dining table. Unwind on the cosiest of seating in the living area by the wood burner effect gas fire. Sleep easy in peaceful surroundings; both bedrooms have spacious en-suite shower rooms. Head down a few steps outside the hall where there’s a convenient boot room and WC. Outside, your hounds can recharge after hilltop hikes in the enclosed paddock. And toast marshmallows on the fire pit for an evening of banter under the stars on the long decked balcony.

Step out and find numerous country trails and heather-clad moors and hills from your doorstep. Trek the 177-mile Offa’s Dyke Path (9 miles), and look out for skylarks, buzzards, and red grouse. Discover ancient landmarks nearby from Llanthony Abbey and Priory (8.5 miles) and Grosmont Castle (10 miles), to Raglan Castle (13.5 miles). Find independent shops, pubs, and eateries in the food-lovers town of Abergavenny (2miles) where there’s a popular annual food festival. Hop on the Brecon Mountain Railway at Pant station (20 miles) for a spectacular train journey through the dizzy heights of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
