With countryside stretching as far as the eye can see, you can spend your days walking, cycling or simply admiring the gorgeous views from this romantic bolthole for two. The cottage is situated in private grounds of a small holding, above the tiny hamlet of Garthbrengy on the northern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. After exploring the vast green spaces, woodlands and mountains of this beautiful natural playground, throw a couple of steaks on the BBQ and enjoy dining under the dark skies.
This single-storey stone barn conversion is spacious and retains much of its traditional Welsh character, with high ceilings and exposed beams contrasting with elegant contemporary decor and furnishings. The smart kitchen area has everything you need to prepare an intimate dinner for two, while the light-filled lounge has windows all around, so you can sit and admire the views across the valleys and hills from the comfortable leather sofas and chairs. On a warm day, throw open the patio doors that lead to a pretty seating area overlooking a duck pond and large lawn. When it’s time for bed, snuggle up in the homely double bedroom.
The popular market town of Brecon is 5 miles from the cottage, home to a fantastic selection of pubs, cafes, shops, a theatre and an independent family run cinema. From here you can also have a go at water sports on the River Usk or enjoy a leisurely walk along the canal towpath. At Pwll-y-Wrach Nature Reserve (9 miles), explore ancient forest dens as you go in search of a spectacular waterfall. On the way back to the cottage, stop off at Talgarth Mill (8 miles) to pick up some freshly baked bread for tea.
