Brimming with creature comforts and cosy spots, escape to the Brecon Beacons National Park for a rural retreat. Call this bolthole home and enjoy the magnificent views across the surrounding mountains and valleys. With a handful of well-trodden trails close to home, rise and shine and head straight out to explore without having to hop in the car.
Welcoming cosy nights in, put your feet up in the lounge and unwind on the comfortable sofa with the wood burner-effect electric fire roaring. Trinkets and ornaments line the mantelpiece and exposed beams add character and charm. With everything you need to rustle up delicious dinners and pack up a picnic, the oak-fitted kitchen has a coffee machine to help with those early mornings. Plate up at the dining table in the lounge or serve up a storm amidst the flowers and shrubs on the patio where you are treated to views across a wildflower meadow and pretty pond. After dinner, make your way over the road to the rockery for a tipple, here you can sit and enjoy a different view of a lake and its wildlife, including the resident heron. As day turns to night, make your way to the first floor where you can fall asleep peacefully in the king-size bedroom. Take care of the sloping ceilings in the bedroom as you rise and shine and head into the shower room to freshen up.
A 3-mile walk will take you to the bustling town of Brecon where you can stop for a bite to eat, visit the canal basin and admire the cathedral. For breathtaking, panoramic views, the highest summit in South Wales, Pen y Fan, is a 5.5-mile trip from your door and is well worth the climb.
