Sitting in the heart of the market town of Talgarth at the northern gateway to the Black Mountains, this cool, compact apartment is perfect for a romantic getaway for two. One of four apartments sitting above the museum, this quaint split-level apartment is ideal if you want to explore the wide-open spaces of the Brecon Beacons National Park, but also enjoy having all the convenience of a market town location. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants for you to enjoy in town after a day of rambling around the National Park.
Climb the stairs to reach this first-floor apartment. Step through the front door and make your way down the corridor, where you’ll find a charming, tastefully decorated living/dining space. Take a few steps down from the dining area and you can cook up a storm for your partner in the contemporary kitchen. Enjoy a romantic meal in the dining area, before retiring to the sofa in the living area to binge-watch your favourite TV shows. Alternatively, head out into town, where there’s a nice selection of pubs to discover. At the end of the day, there’s a lovely double bedroom to cuddle up in.
If you’re looking for something delicious for breakfast, pop into Talgarth Mill (125 feet away) and buy some wonderful home-baked bread. This fascinating fully restored, working 18th-century watermill was featured on the BBC’s Village SOS show. Alternatively, soak up some history at Bronylls Castle (0.5 miles). Perched on a motte overlooking the River Afon Llynfi, this fortified tower dates back to the 13th-century. Or head out to the Pwll-y-Wrach Nature Reserve (1 mile), where there are 17.5 hectares of ancient woodland on the banks of the River Enig to explore.
