Property code: 43059

Leave the hustle and bustle behind and escape to the woods for a trip to remember. The perfect destination for an off-grid romantic retreat, wake to the babble of the stream and spend time exploring the great outdoors without straying too far from home. Climb the Sugar Loaf Mountain or make the 6.5-mile trip to Crickhowell and ascend Table Mountain before stocking up on local goods to cook with back at the ranch. Step up to the decked area and make your way inside this inviting bolthole. With many features and items made from native ash tree by the owner, this home has a truly unique feel. The open-plan living space is cosy and welcoming with splashes of colour brightening up the interior. A wood burner warms the living area which consists of a small kitchen, a sofa, and a table for two with a selection of games and books to keep you entertained. Take a drink outside and light the fire bowl and relax before heading to bed. The double bedroom is very snug and cosy with little room either side of the bed making it perfect for getting snug. There is a shower room with a compost WC. Parking for one car is provided. Leave your former writer’s cabin behind for the day and tread well-trodden paths to explore. Across the lane, access the Sugar Loaf Mountain from which you can spy wonderful views and tuck into a peak-top picnic with goodies picked up from Crickhowell (6.5 miles). For a day out by the water, travel 16.5 miles to Llangorse Lake, the largest natural lake in Wales or 16 miles to Llandegvedd lake in the opposite direction, and make a splash in a kayak or a canoe for a fun-filled day. From the largest lake to the highest peak in the Black Mountains, Waun Fach is 9 miles away.

The Wood shack is a place you will not find often. It is remote, but without being completely cut off from the world. The shack is tiny, cosy and has all the equipment one needs.

A very cosy shack for wildlife lovers. The dawn and dusk chorus were super, I have never heard such sound since the 1980s. Lovely walks on the local hills.

A peaceful and secluded retreat, well equipped with just what you need. The log burner worked amazingly well making evenings really cosy and the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in away from home! A perfect location for bird watching and walking - a superb digital detox.

A wonderful "off grid" weekend away. The cabin had EVERYTHING you need and more. The owners thought of it all. They even mapped out some walks in the welcome book. The cabin is beautifully quirky, warm and cosy. We loved using the firepit on the first night, cooking steak from the local butchers. Amazing tranquil and private place in a great location. Short drive into town, and 20 min walk to the pub via fields. Lovely to sit out and listen to the birds, dragon flies, squirrels etc and babbling brook, and to see the bats on an evening.
