This newly refurbished pretty little 18th century stone cottage is situated in the village of Llanfrynach in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons. An ideal bolthole for a weekend away, with the newly re-opened The White Swan now serving excellent food.
Only a few minutes drive to Brecon and walking straight from the door onto the hills. The Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal and River Usk are both close by. The pretty town of Hay on Wye with its bookshops and independent boutiques is 35 minutes drive away. Excellent farmers markets in Brecon, Llangynidr and Abergavenny, 30 minutes' drive.
Cottage Accommodation - sleeps 2, 1 bedroom.
The cottage has been sympathetically renovated with a new fitted kitchen with slate floors, an electric cooker, microwave, washing machine and a fridge (sorry no freezer). Clever storage includes a boot hole below the stairs. The sitting room has an antique dining table, re-upholstered chairs, new sofa and easy chair, new carpets and a Persian rug. An open fire finishes off this cosy retreat for two people.
Up a very steep flight of striped carpet, ladder stairs to:
Bedroom 1: A light and bright double bedroom with a good mattress, Orla Kiely bedlinen and a dressing table
The limestone - tiled bathroom has a newly installed shower, a handbasin, toilet and a bath.
Outside is a terrace overlooking a pretty cottage garden (help yourself to apples from the tree) with a terrace with table and chairs and a BBQ, flower beds and a lawn.
Across the road is the large churchyard of the ancient St. Brynach church with its Norman tower. There are excellent walks from the doorstep in this picturesque spot. The River Menascin runs through the village while the river usk and The Brecon and Monmouth Canal are both close by.
Brecon 3 miles. Hay-on-Wye 35 minutes drive away.

We stayed in the above cottage between 21 and 28th March. The cottage was lovely and well located for our intended walks and kayaking. The cottage was well equipped and we enjoyed the comfort of the log fire. The garden was pleasant and would provide a nice seating area during summer months.

We had a lovely stay in the Brecon Beacons. Mary's cottage was lovely. We found it very comfortable. The garden was lovely and we even had breakfast sat outside one day in the sunshine. We found everything we needed. It was a shame there wasn't a lockable shed for our bikes but we managed ok. The pub down the road is also open. It's a great location.
We had a great stay and thoroughly recommend the cottage and your company to others.
Just to say we had a splendid holiday at Mary’s Cottage from 21st July. It was very clean, comfortable and well equipped and anything missing was replaced immediately. The staff in the office were very helpful and friendly. The garden was a treat in the sunshine. If we return to Brecon we will definitely book with Brecon Cottages again.
Thank you again for a lovely holiday.
