This little-known, yet spectacularly beautiful area, in the vast Fforest Fawr Geopark in the western half of the National Park and stretching to the Cambrian Mountains, is a perfect holiday destination.
The area is a fantastic area if you love the outdoors, it's a true wilderness. There is just so much space. Remote cottages miles from anywhere, if you're after seclusion, this is where to find it. With the majestic Black Mountain, its neighbouring peaks and the Cambrian Mountains, the rolling hills and green valleys, the area has loads of cycling and walking trails, great salmon and trout fishing on the River Towy and has plenty of interesting history. It's an easy drive to the stunning Carmarthen Coast. Don't miss Carreg Cennen Castle, and thanks to Tom Bridge for his photo.
Keen gardeners will love a visit to Aberglasney House and Gardens and the National Botanic Gardens of Wales. If you're looking for a history-fix (or to seek your fortune), visit the wonderful iron age fort at Garn Goch and the gold mines at Dolaucothi. And if you fancy a bit of retail therapy, there are lots of lovely boutiques and independent shops in the towns – and Llandeilo is the home of Toast – one of my favourite shops!
We have cottages in the towns of Llandovery and Llandeilo and in the hamlets and villages in the wonderfully wild surrounding countryside including Cilycwm, Cynghordy, Gwynfe Myddfai, Rhandirmwyn and Trapp.
