Nestled at the foot of the Black Mountains and within the Brecon Beacons National Park is the tiny hamlet of Tretower. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and benefiting from rugged mountain views, Tretower feels a million miles from modern life, but is just a short drive from the little town of Crickhowell and around 25 minutes from Abergavenny.
Surrounded by beautiful scenery, Tretower is an ideal location from which to explore the mountains and countryside, and there are a wide range of outdoor activities on offer nearby.
The main attraction of Tretower however, is the impressive Tretower Court – a medieval fortified manor house – and the adjacent Tretower Castle.
Did you know?
• Parts of Tretower Court date from as early as 1300 and it is one of very few ‘defended’ houses to survive to this day in the UK
• The keep of the 12th century Tretower Castle is of a rare cylindrical style, more commonly found in France than in Wales
