This would be a very easy place to stay - with good access to all parts of Wales - in the centre of the village of Sennybridge and the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park and yet within easy reach of Mid Wales and not much more to Saundersfoot and the West Wales coast.
Sennybridge has a very good local pub The Usk and Railway and in nearby Defynnog there is also The Tanners Arms. An excellent village shop, garage and cafe just up the road - great for breakfasts if you cannot be bothered to cook.
The Brecon Beacons National Park Visitor is only a few minutes' drive away. Dan-yr-Ogof Caves, Penderyn Whisky Distillery, well worth a visit and the glorious Waterfall Country is again not far - but do bring your walking boots if you are going to walk there. Storey Arms is the favourite place to walk up Pen-y-fan the highest mountain in South Wales. Bike Park Wales is again only about a 20 minute drive.
The owner has several good quality mountain bikes for hire. There are many options when it comes to cycling in the Brecon Beacons. Whether you're a roady, an off road junkie or a leisure rider there is something for everyone. Around Sennybridge are lots country lanes with an array of ascents and descents. If you head into Brecon you can cycle along the towpath or join the Taff Trail which goes all the way to Cardiff You can if you wish cycle the Brecon Beacons a 57 mile route that passes right through Sennybridge or just do a part of it.
There are also several mountain bike routes right on the doorstep a red, blue and green one, something for all abilities.
Don't worry if you haven't got your bike with you as there are hire bikes on hand.

A leisure centre with a pool, 1930s style cinema, excellent theatre and plenty of shops and cafes. On the outskirts of the town are popular villages including Llangorse with it famous lake, Cantref with its popular adventure farm, Talybont, well known as a walking and cycling hub and Felin Fach, home of The Griffin, a highly acclaimed pub and restaurant.
