A true picture book cottage in an enclosed cottage garden, set in the village of Llangynidr within easy walking distance of two local pubs, village shop, The River Usk and Brecon and Monmouth Canal. Easy access to the Welsh Valleys.
Sleeps 3+1 - 1 Double, 1 Small 4ft Double, 1 2ft 6 day bed
A delightful and newly fitted contemporary kitchen/diner, with an electric oven, an induction hob, a microwave, dishwasher and a fridge and freezer, with a farmhouse style table and 6 painted chairs. There is a washer/dryer in the back porch/utility.
The front door has an entrance porch with room for boots, leading onto the sitting area, which has lovely traditional quarry tiles with rugs throughout and two pretty sofa's set around a wood-burning stove. Flat screen TV with Freeview & a DVD.
The "snug" is a smallish room off the living room that would originally have been a prison cell, back when Llangynidr needed to detain wrong-doers overnight before taking them to Crickhowell police station the next morning. Today it houses a games console and a futon, which converts to a further double bed if needed.
The steep traditional cottage stairs lead up to a very spacious landing, where there is a lovely 2ft6 "day bed" - or this would be a good place for a cot.
Bedroom 1: A fine king sized bed
Bedroom 2: A small 4ft double bed (access from one side)
The spacious and contemporary bathroom: Has a free standing bath, a separate shower, hand basin and toilet.
The back door from the back porch leads out to a large productive vegetable garden - where visitors are welcome to help themselves. The garden is enclosed and so safe for children and pets; there is a pretty summer house with garden furniture and a BBQ. In the corner of the garden there is also an old "Massey Ferguson" tractor. You can also hideaway from the world in the small, more private courtyard tucked away at the back of the house behind the snug, with a bistro set of table and chairs. There is a well-kept lawn for visitors to enjoy and parking for two cars.

A lockable shed/stone bothy for the storage of mountain bikes lies at the far end of the garden.
The cottage was probably built in the 1840's and the name means Middle Bridge. It is only a couple of minutes' walk to The Red Lion in Llangynidr and a bit further to The Coach & Horses and the village shop. There are plenty of walks from the door down to the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal and the series of picturesque locks or down to the River Usk where there are rocky pools for wild swimming.
From Llangynidr village there is easy access over the mountain road to Ebbw Vale, Brynmawr and The Welsh Valleys - ideal for visitors with family in the area. Visit The Big Pit, Bike Park Wales and easy to reach Cardiff and The Millennium Stadium etc.
Brecon 9 miles, Abergavenny 12 miles and Crickhowell 4 miles.

Crickhowell is the proud winner of the best British High Street, 2018. It's steeped in history, has almost entirely independent (and excellent) shops, really good pubs and restaurants and award winning cafes. The bustling high street runs down to the idyllic river with it's historic bridge over to the neighbouring village of Llangattock. Crickhowell is a great base for outdoor enthusiasts, with fantastic cycling and walking in the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons. To top it all, there's an annual music festival, The Green Man, just outside the town. Read more about Crickhowell
