This is the ideal place to start a short or long walk along the tow path, Brecon is less than 3 miles to the west passing over Brynich aqueduct and Brynich Lock, or in the other direction Talybont-on-Usk has 4 thriving pubs/restaurants - all providing good food; there is also a village shop, canal side cafe and Post Office. Alternatively you can choose to hike onto the Brecon Beacons and return via the village of Llanfrynach which is only a short distance along the road from the cottage. It is also ideal for mountain biking, with the Taff Trail on the doorstop; to make it easier you can arrange for bikes to be delivered for your arrival. Walk along the canal to The Royal Oak in Pencelli - check opening times with owner.

A friendly cathedral town in the lee of the mountains with the rivers Usk and Honddu running through. For a small town, there's a lot going on.
