What a location for a cottage with really glorious views - situated on the picturesque and remote mountainside of The Taf Fechan Forest with extensive views across the Ponsticill Reservoir. Part of an Outdoor Education Centre, the access to the cottage is down a few steps and then all the rooms are on one level; with the views over this picturesque reservoir and classic walks onto The Brecon Beacons from the door, this is the perfect place to stay whether a family group with children or wanting serious adventure exploring the Beacons or participating in all sorts of outdoor activities. The Brecon Mountain Railway runs nearby and is ideal for children, and the next door outdoor pursuits centre offers an array of fun activities for all visitors with different abilities. The waterfalls of Blaen-y-glyn are just up the road and certainly well worth a visit and a walk. The rivers and reservoirs are a paradise for serious bird waters with "hides" on some of the reservoirs to watch the numerous water fowl and migratory birds.

The cottage is fairly easily accessible from The South Wales Valleys or from Brecon - whichever way you approach it is a truly scenic drive. A perfect place for star gazing with absolutely no light pollution. Perfect for serious hikers and bikers as the peaks of the Beacons and numerous mountain biking routes are within easy reach. The Taff Trail runs past the house and now the forestry commission have opened up several new trails for mountain biking.. Also handy for very for keen fishermen with plenty of fishing on the reservoirs! (permits required).

Again well equipped for children and within a five minute drive of Brecon Mountain Railway, this scenic railway old steam train can be heard chugging down the line in the summer a few times a day. Great for visitors just wishing to be able to explore the area, wonder at the landscape, perhaps wanting to visit relatives in The Welsh Valleys.Ideal for a  visit to Cardiff, perhaps for the Rugby or an event at The Millennium Stadium. The Southern Brecon Beacons are a magical expanse of mountains, lakes and Ystradfellte's waterfall country of caves, rushing rivers and steeply wooded gorges. There's plenty to do here. Discover the mountains by foot, bike (this is the home of the fabulous Bike Park Wales) or even train on the Brecon Mountain Railway. Sample whisky (and gin) to rival even the finest Scotch at Penderyn Distillery, or have a day out at the spectacular caving system and dinosaur attraction at Dan yr Ogof. The acclaimed beaches in the Gower and Carmarthenshire are within an hour of many of the cottages. Read more about Southern Brecon Beacons
