A traditional white painted stone country farmhouse set in the heart of The Brecon Beacons and reached up a 3/4 mile private drive (not really suitable for very low slung cars).

If you want to get away from it all this is an ideal base to explore the beautiful countryside of the Brecon Beacons National Park, with the Tor-y-Foel Mountain and forest rising up behind the farmhouse and the Taff trail only a couple of minutes away. The glorious and expansive Talybont Reservoir with its bird hides, The Henry Vaughan Walk, The Blyn-y-Glyn Waterfalls are also close by and yet the farm is within walking distance of the busy village of Talybont on Usk. It boasts a shop, cafe, and post office, three thriving local pubs, a restaurant  and an excellent Bike Hire centre.  The picturesque River Usk runs on outskirts and the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal passes through the centre with a great flat walk along the towpath.

This is the perfect place to stay for serious mountain bikers or hill walkers - with direct access on to the Brecon Beacons mountain trails and paths.

The very spacious and luxurious farmhouse is light and airy and is furnished to an exceptionally high standard. There is underfloor heating throughout which ensures it is warm and cosy whatever the outside weather.  The open plan sitting room has comfortable deep sofa and chairs around a double aspect wood-burning stove ... again wonderful on a chilly day - with a light and sunny room the other side.  There is a very interesting and eclectic collection of paintings.

The owners who live in the nearby renovated large barn have ensured there is plenty of local information, books, games and DVD's for guests to enjoy.  A local farmer rents the surrounding land for grazing sheep and occasionally a couple of pigs in the woodland - well away from the house.

Sleeps 4   Two Bedrooms both with en-suite bath/shower rooms.

Kitchen      Exceptionally well equipped with a kitchen table, a Welsh dresser, Range Master cooker, under counter fridge and microwave.

Utility room    Tall freezer, washing machine and drier.

Separate toilet and hand basin.

Living Area    The elegant dining table seats 6 and there are plenty of comfy sofas and chairs in the living room and sun room. I found this a fascinating room to sit in with it's interesting collection of paintings. There is a TV with DVD player and Freesat and a large double sided wood burning stove - there is always a good supply of dry logs.

Bedroom 1: A very large master bedroom with double bed, dressing room and en-suite bathroom with a double walk in shower, bath, hand basin, toilet, bidet and heated towel rails.

Bedroom 2: Another spacious bedroom with double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers and an en-suite bathroom with a corner bath, hand basin, toilet and heated towel rails

A lovely big garden with superb views across the valley to rolling wooded hills dotted with farmsteads. There are several different seating areas in the shade of mature trees, a picnic bench and BBQ.

A friendly cathedral town in the lee of the mountains with the rivers Usk and Honddu running through. For a small town, there's a lot going on. A leisure centre with a pool, 1930s style cinema, excellent theatre and plenty of shops and cafes. On the outskirts of the town are popular villages including Llangorse with it famous lake, Cantref with its popular adventure farm, Talybont, well known as a walking and cycling hub and Felin Fach, home of The Griffin, a highly acclaimed pub and restaurant.
