18 Cric is the perfect place to stay if you want to be close to some excellent places to eat without taking the car. Walk to The Bear, The Dragon, The Vine Tree and several more excellent places. Crickhowell High Street is full of interesting shops, there is the wonderful family run small department store Webbs that sells almost everything in the hardware department from seeds to sofa's and they will deliver all over Britain and even Europe and they do regularly! There is Nicolls for great fashion and gifts, a superb butchers and bakers, a chemist, a couple of art galleries, a book shop, outdoor shop, antique shop and plenty more; several cafes and a great Resource Centre with local information and maps.
The Corn Exchange in Crickhowell is an excellent example of a community project ; the townspeople all wanted to ensure there were no big chain stores on the high street and bought the pub which was then turned into individual "boutique style" shops and a Zero Waste Shop - the first in Wales.
