Nice friendly people - clean and welcoming cottage. Only issue is that all roads to this cottage are narrow with some extremely steep gradients on sharp bends, and the track down to the cottage is not really suitable for a small vehicle. Close to Crickhowell and Averbegenny which are lovely.

We had a delightful time staying at Willow Cottage, it was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Even though it was late May, we were very appreciative of the central heating as we had a few wet days at the start. The drive up is a tad hairy and reversing cameras useful when meeting other vehicles on the lane but well worth the drive. Its goodRead more to be able to do a number of walks directly from the cottage, with stunning scenery, our hosts showed where local ones were, maps are available Hide

Lovely and cosy warm cottage, we enjoyed staying indoors when the storm Alex prevented us from going out in the beautiful surroundings. You need to be a good driver to negotiate the winding single track roads to get to the cottage but that was what made it more adventurous! Lovely friendly sheep nearby but keep the dog on lead!

Fantastic place in which we thoroughly enjoyed a weekend away. Great walks across the slate mines were only a short distance from the cottage; perfect for the dog walks. Would definitely recommend.

Location

Map
Note: As the postcode is used to identify the general area of the property, it may not always reflect its precise location, therefore please only use this map as a guide.

The Brecon Beacons is a vast, mountainous and rural region of Wales. Stretching 42 miles from east to west and covering an area of 520 square miles, the Brecon Beacons is dominated by the National Park of the same name. Split into three main areas, the Black Mountain in the west, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr in the middle, and the Black Mountains in the east; each is a wild, bold and inspiring place to visit on holiday. With 1232 miles of public trails which includes the 95-mile-long Beacons Way, it’s a wayfarer’s delight. One of four Dark Skies Reserves in the UK (and one of 11 in the world), stargazers can delight in the open night sky, to enjoy the darkness in full splendour. The Fforest Fawr is a UNESCO Global Geopark because of its important geology and a need to conserve and protect the area from negative over development.

Stay at a self-catering cottage in the mountains and cascading woodlands or out on the moors; you can also stay in one of the Brecon Beacon’s lovely towns like Hay-on-Wye, Crickhowell, Llangorse or Brecon. Outdoor lovers will enjoy a choice of easy to challenging treks up and around Sugar Loaf Mountain, Carn Pica, Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad, Pen y Fan, or Hatterall Ridge (and many more besides). Take in uniquely Welsh attractions like Dan-yr-Ogof (the National Showcaves Centre for Wales), The Big Pit Mining Museum, Llanthony Priory, Carreg Cennen Castle, Fourteen Locks, and the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway. Wildlife abounds in the Brecon Beacons, and it’s a great place to spot red kites and discover the successful story of their reintroduction to the UK’s skies at the Red Kite Centre. There’s so much to do for outdoor lovers and extreme sports fans here, so why not book your self-catering holiday in the Brecon Beacons today?

Our holiday cottages across the Brecon Beacons have been carefully selected. From dog-friendly cottages in the countryside to large farmhouses on the mountainsides and everything in between, we have a holiday in the Brecon Beacons to suit you.
