Sitting in the heart of the market town of Talgarth at the northern gateway to the Black Mountains, this cool, compact apartment is perfect for a romantic getaway for two. One of four apartments sitting above the museum, this quaint split-level apartment is ideal if you want to explore the wide-open spaces of the Brecon Beacons National Park, but also enjoy having all the convenience of a market town location. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants for you to enjoy in town after a day of rambling around the National Park. Climb the stairs to reach this first-floor apartment. Step through the front door and make your way down the corridor, where you’ll find a charming, tastefully decorated living/dining space. Take a few steps down from the dining area and you can cook up a storm for your partner in the contemporary kitchen. Enjoy a romantic meal in the dining area, before retiring to the sofa in the living area to binge-watch your favourite TV shows. Alternatively, head out into town, where there’s a nice selection of pubs to discover. At the end of the day, there’s a lovely double bedroom to cuddle up in. If you’re looking for something delicious for breakfast, pop into Talgarth Mill (125 feet away) and buy some wonderful home-baked bread. This fascinating fully restored, working 18th-century watermill was featured on the BBC’s Village SOS show. Alternatively, soak up some history at Bronylls Castle (0.5 miles). Perched on a motte overlooking the River Afon Llynfi, this fortified tower dates back to the 13th-century. A well equipped apartment in a beautiful location. The town of Talgarth has many walks around and had all the amenities that we needed. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Spotless, compact first floor flat. Despite being situated on a through road, it was very quiet and peaceful. Everything one could need was provided. Special mention for the bed, which was super comfy! Loved the little museum on the ground floor of the building. Good value and well situated for Hay On Wye and the Brecon Beacons.

Excellent location with free parking nearby, this property is the ideal base for exploring the local area. The layout of the apartment has been well thought out and the view from the bedroom is interesting. It was comfortable for two people. More hangers in the bedroom would help- four is not enough for a weeks stay. Would definitely think of returRead morening but better Wi-Fi is required. Hide

The Brecon Beacons is a vast, mountainous and rural region of Wales. Stretching 42 miles from east to west and covering an area of 520 square miles, the Brecon Beacons is dominated by the National Park of the same name. Split into three main areas, the Black Mountain in the west, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr in the middle, and the Black Mountains in the east; each is a wild, bold and inspiring place to visit on holiday. With 1232 miles of public trails which includes the 95-mile-long Beacons Way, it’s a wayfarer’s delight. One of four Dark Skies Reserves in the UK (and one of 11 in the world), stargazers can delight in the open night sky, to enjoy the darkness in full splendour. The Fforest Fawr is a UNESCO Global Geopark because of its important geology and a need to conserve and protect the area from negative over development.

Stay at a self-catering cottage in the mountains and cascading woodlands or out on the moors; you can also stay in one of the Brecon Beacon’s lovely towns like Hay-on-Wye, Crickhowell, Llangorse or Brecon. Outdoor lovers will enjoy a choice of easy to challenging treks up and around Sugar Loaf Mountain, Carn Pica, Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad, Pen y Fan, or Hatterall Ridge (and many more besides). Take in uniquely Welsh attractions like Dan-yr-Ogof (the National Showcaves Centre for Wales), The Big Pit Mining Museum, Llanthony Priory, Carreg Cennen Castle, Fourteen Locks, and the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway. Wildlife abounds in the Brecon Beacons, and it’s a great place to spot red kites and discover the successful story of their reintroduction to the UK’s skies at the Red Kite Centre. There’s so much to do for outdoor lovers and extreme sports fans here, so why not book your self-catering holiday in the Brecon Beacons today?

Our holiday cottages across the Brecon Beacons have been carefully selected. From dog-friendly cottages in the countryside to large farmhouses on the mountainsides and everything in between, we have a holiday in the Brecon Beacons to suit you.
