Located in Crai, the heart of the Brecon Beacons will be at your fingertips from this stunning property. Yet, we think you’ll have a little trouble tearing yourself away

A large, spacious family home with room for up to 11 people, family holidays and group getaways with friends have never looked so glamourous. Perfect for both outdoorsy types looking to make the most of its bucolic location (Pen y Fan is only 13.5 miles away) and those simply wanting to capitalize on quality time together somewhere extra special, all boxes are ticked. Relax in style in the peaceful Crai Valley and when you feel like heading out, nearby Sennybridge (4 miles) has oodles of restaurants and pubs for you to celebrate over a few drinks and hearty meal. Or, perhaps take a picnic to Cray Reservoir (2 miles) and bask in the sunshine, lapping up the views.

The kind of place you’ll want to come back to year after year, this four-bedroom property has something for all generations. After a day’s exploration, come together in the beautiful kitchen/diner, an attractive space exuding contemporary flare yet softened with subtle period features. Home to everything you could need for food preparations and featuring a long farmhouse-style table with ample space for up to 11 people, family feasts will be a pleasure. Once plates have been cleared and popped in the dishwasher to take care of the dirty work, let the kids scamper off to the snug, tucked between the kitchen and the sitting room. While the youngsters get stuck into a game or two on the Wii, the grown-ups can wind down in the main living area, accessed via a few steps down. Featuring an extra-long sofa that runs the length of the room, a stone fireplace with wood burner and a TV with Freesat and DVD, conversation can flow long into the night. Once tiredness kicks in, you will find the bedrooms located across the two floors (some accessed via steps down), as well as three bathrooms for freshening up.

A real summer paradise, the property’s exterior has just as much appeal as its interiors. Enjoy meals on the terrace, luxuriate in the shared outdoor hot tub and play games with the children. Benefitting from a large grassy lawn with access to a picturesque meadow beyond, hours of happiness are sure to ensue. For extra convenience, parking is available on site.

The Brecon Beacons is a vast, mountainous and rural region of Wales. Stretching 42 miles from east to west and covering an area of 520 square miles, the Brecon Beacons is dominated by the National Park of the same name. Split into three main areas, the Black Mountain in the west, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr in the middle, and the Black Mountains in the east; each is a wild, bold and inspiring place to visit on holiday. With 1232 miles of public trails which includes the 95-mile-long Beacons Way, it’s a wayfarer’s delight. One of four Dark Skies Reserves in the UK (and one of 11 in the world), stargazers can delight in the open night sky, to enjoy the darkness in full splendour. The Fforest Fawr is a UNESCO Global Geopark because of its important geology and a need to conserve and protect the area from negative over development.

Stay at a self-catering cottage in the mountains and cascading woodlands or out on the moors; you can also stay in one of the Brecon Beacon’s lovely towns like Hay-on-Wye, Crickhowell, Llangorse or Brecon. Outdoor lovers will enjoy a choice of easy to challenging treks up and around Sugar Loaf Mountain, Carn Pica, Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad, Pen y Fan, or Hatterall Ridge (and many more besides). Take in uniquely Welsh attractions like Dan-yr-Ogof (the National Showcaves Centre for Wales), The Big Pit Mining Museum, Llanthony Priory, Carreg Cennen Castle, Fourteen Locks, and the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway. Wildlife abounds in the Brecon Beacons, and it’s a great place to spot red kites and discover the successful story of their reintroduction to the UK’s skies at the Red Kite Centre. There’s so much to do for outdoor lovers and extreme sports fans here, so why not book your self-catering holiday in the Brecon Beacons today?

Our holiday cottages across the Brecon Beacons have been carefully selected. From dog-friendly cottages in the countryside to large farmhouses on the mountainsides and everything in between, we have a holiday in the Brecon Beacons to suit you.
