Pen-yr-Heol is just perfect for a large family get together. This 17th century traditional Welsh long house with attached stone barn has been renovated and restored with much of the original character being retained. The house nestles at the foot of the Black Mountain on the western edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park and is situated 3 miles north of Ystradgynlais in the Upper Swansea Valley. The house sits in a large garden with half an acre of its own land where you can listen to the burbling stream and birdsong as a mountain stream runs past one side of the property and a small river flows at the back (fenced off for small children). This cottage is an ideal base for a family or activity groups wishing to spend time together with easy access to both the sea and the mountains; and it is a very good location for visiting the new Geo Park. Palleg Golf Club 1.5 miles, fishing 7 miles. Great for stargazing due to no light pollution.

Sleeps 20, 8 bedrooms. The farmhouse kitchen is very well equipped with ample work and storage space, one double and one single oven and hobs, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, two fridges and a freezer. • We had a fantastic time staying at Pen-yr-Heol near Ystradgynlais. The booking process was smooth, the property owner was very friendly and helpful and the house was in excellent condition. The directions to the property and advance instructions were very helpful. Many thanks to the owner and the booking team.
    • Pen Yr Heol is in a delightful setting – Burbling stream and birdsong better than cars and traffic. Dark skies with no light pollution pity cloud cover prevented star gazing. Excellent choice for eating out, specifically Cwmphil Fish and Chips (5Mins), Ynyscedwyn Arms (10mins) and The George (15Mins). Supermarket within 5 minutes Excellent walking within easy reach along good quiet roads. The good indoors; We thought only 3 bathrooms would present issues but found that the layout eased the issues with each sleeping area reasonably serviced. Comfortable lounge with plenty of space to spread out. Overall very clean and comfortable.
