A sympathetically restored cottage set within the grounds of a heritage site and former ironworks complex, perfect for couples wanting to explore the Brecon Beacons National Park.

A beautifully decorated cottage with a restored terrace, this is a lovely getaway for two guests exploring the south-eastern edges of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Set on a working farm which is itself situated within the grounds of the historic Nantyglo Ironworks, this pretty Grade II-listed cottage makes a relaxing couples’ escape.

One of three properties on-site, the cottage has a view of the 19th-century roundhouse towers by the gates, and makes a fabulous base for long rural walks or for heading into the Black Mountains to the north. Entering this delightful cottage, the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner features some exposed stonework and stone flooring, and has been tastefully updated and decorated to provide a charming living area. The lounge is perfect for snuggling in front of the Smart TV, while the dining area is ideal for a quiet romantic meal for two. The kitchen to the rear has a wide range of useful equipment. The solid wooden staircase curves upstairs to the first floor where you will find the relaxing double bedroom with rural views and wooden flooring. There’s also a stylish shower room. Outside, the small front terrace makes a delightful spot for a morning coffee, and there’s a shared area in the farm grounds with a fire pit. Electric vehicle charging is available on site. This is at an extra charge paid directly to the owner.

Lying in the Ebbw-Fach valley, the cottage is just a mile from the village of Nantyglo, where you will find a choice of places to eat and drink, as well as a vintage cinema and golf course. Nantyglo was once home to a major ironworks, remnants of which include the farm’s roundhouse towers. Local attractions include The Big Pit National Coal Museum, Blaenavon Ironworks, Festival Park Owl Sanctuary and Cwmtillery Lakes (all within 7 miles). The town of Abergavenny is also nearby (9.5 miles).

Lovely warm cosy cottage . It has everything needed for a relaxing holiday. There are lots of interesting things to do and see within a 20 minute drive.

Fabulous cottage with lovely views of the countryside. Very quiet and tucked up out of the way but with easy access to all routes. Absolutely idyllic. Highly recommended.

It was the perfect getaway location, it has all the peace and serenity you need but also has a retail park no more than 5 minute's drive, the breacon is a beauty to wake up to, I felt sad leaving, the owners were really lovely and accommodating, it definitely has left last memories, if there is one thing I can change, I would say is my living arranRead moregement because the owners have made it feel homely and inviting, near the end of my stay I felt if I was moving out my own house Hide

We stayed one week in summer and we had a really good time! Nice location, also for mountainbiking, a very new and tidy cottage and a kind property owner. We would love to come back for vacation!

Beautiful cottage in a barn conversion, lovingly restored with loads of attention to detail. Everything was provided, so we had a very comfortable stay! Only downside was the very late check-in time (5pm). Especially when travelling with a baby, this is basically bedtime. While Nantyglo itself does not have much to offer, this is a good base for fuRead morerther exploration. A little gem! Crickhowell is an especially nice little town and the Brecon Beacons are on your doorstep. Hide
