Surround yourself with rolling fields of green at this detached barn conversion set in 4 acres of secluded grounds in the rugged foothills of the Black Mountains. Sleeping six people over three bedrooms, this stylish property is perfect for families or groups of friends who want to get away from it all to enjoy some quality time with their favourite people. After dinner, chat in front of the wood burner in the living room, or head to the cinema room and watch a film. At the end of the day, there’s one bedroom on the ground floor and two bedrooms on the first floor to choose from. Grosmont also has some lovely eateries if you feel like giving the chef in your party the day off. Foodies should make a beeline for Trealy Farm Charcuterie (14 miles) – Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall is a big fan – and the farm shop at the Apple Country Cider Co (9.5 miles), where the cider is a big hit with Oz Clarke.

The cottage itself was great and has some fantastic views. The surrounding country lanes and access to the property would prohibit ourselves from returning. Having children there were limited things to do as a family nearby requiring us to cover a fair bit of ground whilst there.

A fantastic holiday barn in a beautiful location. It is secluded and peaceful, with fabulous views. Some great walks and castles nearby, as well as pubs and cafes for dinner and coffees. The kids adored the climbing frame set. We all loved the cinema room. Really well-equipped, with everything we needed for a lovely week's holiday.

The Brecon Beacons is a vast, mountainous and rural region of Wales. Stretching 42 miles from east to west and covering an area of 520 square miles, the Brecon Beacons is dominated by the National Park of the same name. Split into three main areas, the Black Mountain in the west, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr in the middle, and the Black Mountains in the east; each is a wild, bold and inspiring place to visit on holiday. With 1232 miles of public trails which includes the 95-mile-long Beacons Way, it’s a wayfarer’s delight. One of four Dark Skies Reserves in the UK (and one of 11 in the world), stargazers can delight in the open night sky, to enjoy the darkness in full splendour. The Fforest Fawr is a UNESCO Global Geopark because of its important geology and a need to conserve and protect the area from negative over development.

Stay at a self-catering cottage in the mountains and cascading woodlands or out on the moors; you can also stay in one of the Brecon Beacon’s lovely towns like Hay-on-Wye, Crickhowell, Llangorse or Brecon. Outdoor lovers will enjoy a choice of easy to challenging treks up and around Sugar Loaf Mountain, Carn Pica, Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad, Pen y Fan, or Hatterall Ridge (and many more besides). Take in uniquely Welsh attractions like Dan-yr-Ogof (the National Showcaves Centre for Wales), The Big Pit Mining Museum, Llanthony Priory, Carreg Cennen Castle, Fourteen Locks, and the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway. Wildlife abounds in the Brecon Beacons, and it’s a great place to spot red kites and discover the successful story of their reintroduction to the UK’s skies at the Red Kite Centre. There’s so much to do for outdoor lovers and extreme sports fans here, so why not book your self-catering holiday in the Brecon Beacons today?

Our holiday cottages across the Brecon Beacons have been carefully selected. From dog-friendly cottages in the countryside to large farmhouses on the mountainsides and everything in between, we have a holiday in the Brecon Beacons to suit you.
