About Alltwinau Farmhouse
A remote and secluded traditional farmhouse in River Irfon valley at foot of Cefn Alltwinau in Cambrian Mountains, 2.5 miles from Llanwrtyd Wells. Superb for relaxing, walking, mountain biking, pony trekking, "Bog Snorkling", red kite watching, fishing. Pets welcome and with WiFi.
Alltwinau is a romantic, wonderfully remote and secluded oak beamed farmhouse, ideal for families, couples and groups. It is a perfect retreat if you want to get away from it all with birdsong and the murmur of the River Irfon for company. Located on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains and reached at the end of a long gated track shared only with the farm, approximately a quarter of a mile back down the track. Alltwinau stands completely alone, away from any other habitation, at the end of a 1 mile long track yet only 2.5 miles from the busy town of Llanwrtyd Wells with a small supermarket, shops, pubs and restaurants. It is ideal for completely getting away from it all and for all types of outside activities such as mountain biking, walking and fishing, with the River Irfon just below the house. The cottage has a large traditional open-plan flagstone kitchen /dining/sitting area with two comfy sofas around the original, working fireplace and a separate sitting room downstairs. The painted murals in the kitchen and in the bathroom are a very special feature and are admired by many of our guests.

We had a fabulous time, the cottage was really cosy and well equipped and in a beautiful quiet spot. The service you provided was great. We will definitely be booking through you again - this cottage if it's just us and another if there are more family with us.
Service rating : Very straightforward booking process. Lots of information on the chosen property. Good communication from the agency, and an attractive brochure.
Product : Our second visit to Alltwinau and once again we found the cottage to be very homely and probably the best equipped of all the cottages we have stayed in over the last thirty years. The remote location provides a rural haven, but the wifi and honesty phone are there should they be needed. The beds were very comfortable, and there is ample seating for relaxing. There are now two televisions provided though poor weather does affect the signal. The enclosed garden has a swing and a new barbecue, and visitors are encouraged to keep the bird feeders topped up so as to continue to attract the wide range of birds in the area. The fields nearby house sheep and horses. Maps are provided for those holidaymakers wishing to do local walks (a popular short one is to the nearby Washpool - idyllic for dogs, children and grown ups!) The town of Brecon and the Beacons are about an hour's drive away, whilst the stunning Elan Valley and its reservoirs is thirty minutes drive. We loved the drives over the mountain passes to Brecon or Tregaron, and around the Elan Valley. It is as scenic as the Lake District but minus the crowds. We would happily recommend Alltwinau as a holiday cottage!

Product : The house was in the most amazing idyllic spot we have ever been, surrounded by hills and trees and nature we totally relaxed the second we got there:) We spent most of our time outside, the garden was a great place to sit and the children loved the swing. We had some great walks from the house, washpool just down the track was brilliant. The house was well equipped with everything we needed and more, we didn't want leave!! thankyou we would love to return in the future:)

Having two dogs it was ideal, large garden space and walks in all directions no need to drive if you don't want too.

We hope we can welcome you back to the area sometime in the near future.
North of Brecon there are less dramatic - but far prettier - hills, lush valleys and forests. The two main towns in the area are Builth Wells and Llanwrtyd Wells (which claims to be the smallest town in Britain). Both are old spa towns, with a rich history and impressive architecture. We've got a selection of holiday cottages in the towns and in the pretty villages and countryside nearby.
