Pack your hiking boots and head 20 miles into the National Park to summit Pen-Y-Fan, the highest peak in south Wales at 886m above sea level. Marvel at panoramic views before heading into Talgarth on your way home for a bite to eat at a tasty café. Watch the mill in action before sinking into comfortable sofas at this humble abode and relaxing for the evening. Should you fancy a flightier adventure, the Black Mountains Gliding Club is less than 4 miles from your door.

Sitting in a feature fireplace, the wood burner promises to keep you warm and provides an inviting welcome after days spent adventuring in the great outdoors. Switch on the TV or choose a book from the shelf and settle down for a peaceful night. Stepping through to the kitchen/diner you can whip together something delicious in this brilliant space. Plenty of room and light make this a great spot to work and prepare meals which can be served up at the dining table where zesty colours bring the room to life. A patio door leads outside to the perfect spot for your morning coffee in the warmer months. Make your way to the first floor where two bedrooms and a Jack and Jill bathroom reside; the bathroom has a separate bath and shower. The double room is spacious and the single is more of a snug space, yet both are delightfully decorated.

Make the most of your fantastic location and spend time outside in either the rear courtyard or the garden. Complete with BBQ and patio furniture, the suntrap courtyard is a lovely space for al fresco mealtimes. Over the road, the larger garden has waterside seating where you can sit and switch off as you watch the gurgling waterfalls tumble and flow. This is the 4th time I have stayed at Hilton House, so I think that says it all. I use it whilst visiting a friend in the area and it almost seems like a second home now. The cottage is very comfortable and has everything you need, even down to the small extras in the kitchen such as tin foil! It is a nice touch that Sue always leaves milk and Read morecake for when you arrive and the log fire is made up just waiting to be lit. Talgarth itself is a lovely place with plenty to do both in the village and nearby. I would recommend a visit to the Mill, lunch at the Baker's Table and then calling in at the Mill Craft Shop which sells a great variety of quality goods made by local crafters. Hide
