The Hendre is a lovely family home in the village of Talgarth; very private yet only a few minutes walk down the road to the village centre. Orginally a "cider house" called Three Cocks Inn, the property was converted to a family home in the 1930's, but the wide doorways downstairs give a clue as to its original purpose.
The house is close to the heart of the village on a quiet road close to the 13th century St. Gwendolines Church. Talgarth was featured in the BBC series "Village SOS" showing the successful development of a working mill project. The mill is fascinating to look around, is now open to visitors and has an excellent cafe overlooking the river. The village also has an award winning butcher and is within a short drive of many superb restaurants. The area is a foodies paradise, nearby favourites include the award winning Griffin Inn at Felinfach and the Walnut Tree Inn near Abergavenny. The area is a great base for walking, gliding and mountain biking, there are footpaths leading straight up from Talgarth Common onto the mountains of Myndd Troed and another really lovely walk is from the village up to the waterfalls and bluebell woods at Pwll yr Wrach. The views are magnificent from up on the common and it is very usual to see the gliders and hang gliders flying gently over head with the red kite and other birds of prey.
