  • A beautiful Georgian barn conversion
  • Set on an ancient, medieval farmstead
  • Endless walking trails and cycling routes on your doorstep
Property code: 42882

Experience carefree days exploring the beautiful Brecon Beacons and Herefordshire countryside. This delightful barn, set on an ancient medieval farmstead, is part of a restored Georgian stable block where families can reconnect and share the good times together. Walking trails and cycle paths inspire you to get outdoors whatever the season, while Hay-on-Wye, famous for its second-hand bookshops and arts festival, is just over a mile away across the River Wye.

Inside, the open-plan living area has quirky touches and individual style to give it a unique character. The rooms also make a feature of the original beams, giving the barn true rustic appeal. Winter nights are all about snuggling up under blankets on the sofa beside the warming wood burner, while in summer you can throw open the back door that leads to the garden for an evening of al fresco dining. When sleepy heads nod, climb the stairs to the elegantly styled bedrooms, a king-size and a twin. The market town of Brecon (15.5 miles) is a good place to fuel up with a hearty brunch ahead of climbing up Pen y Fan, South Wales’ highest peak. If that looks too daunting, perhaps go on the trail of waterfalls or get a bird’s-eye view of the Brecon Beacons from a glider. There are also ample opportunities for long hikes, cycle rides and pony trekking, while Llangorse Lake (12.5 miles) is the place to try water-based activities, including paddleboarding and kayaking. Further afield, the city of Hereford, with its impressive cathedral and half-timbered houses, is 20 miles away.

  • Two upstairs bedrooms, a king-size bedroom and a good sized twin bedroom
  • Shaker style farmhouse kitchen with breakfast bar.  Well equipped with electric hob and oven, microwave, fridge/freezer box.
  • Living room with two sofas with Welsh blankets and a wood burner to keep you snug at night. (first basket of logs included)

Lovely, comfortable cottage. Close to the beautiful town of Hay-on-Wye and the many activities that the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons, River Wye and the Brecon canal have to offer.
