Property code: BN175

A pretty courtyard cottage beside a mountain road, surrounded by scenic walks to nearby reservoirs, and boasting an on-site tearoom. A lovely home-from-home for families with dogs.

Enjoy a cycle ride or two along the Taff Trail or explore the Taf Fechan Forest on foot from this two-bedroom stone cottage, which sleeps up to four guests. Take up to two dogs with you if you choose and return home to your cosy retreat near Torpantau to bask in the glow of the open fire. Go fishing in a nearby reservoir and return for a cup of tea and slice of cake at the on-site tearoom.

Step into this charming property, one of three set around a courtyard, to find a hallway with space for coats and boots. Make your way into the open-plan kitchen/diner/lounge, which will quickly become a home away from home during your stay. Enjoy the abundant character at this property, which has revealed stonework and exposed timbers. Light the open fire and settle down in its glow to watch TV or perhaps a DVD. Play a CD as you head through to the kitchen area, with its oven and hob, microwave, and fridge to whip up homecooked meals to enjoy together at the table. Make your way up to the first floor to find both of your bedrooms, with sloping ceilings, and the family bathroom, with its WC and shower over the bath. Discover one of your bedrooms has a double bed, while the other comes with comfortable twins. This cottage also benefits from a shared laundry room, with washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. There is shared storage space for bikes and generous parking.

Take your bikes or head out on foot along the 2-mile trail to the Upper and Lower Neuadd Reservoirs. Go for a walk beside the river straight from home or follow a circular 3.5-mile walk beside the beautiful Pontsticill Reservoir. Take a trip along the scenic Brecon Mountain Railway, 4.5 miles away; visit 13th-century Morlais Castle, set above the Taff Gorge, 5 miles away.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The Brecon Beacons is a vast, mountainous and rural region of Wales. Stretching 42 miles from east to west and covering an area of 520 square miles, the Brecon Beacons is dominated by the National Park of the same name. Split into three main areas, the Black Mountain in the west, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Fforest Fawr in the middle, and the Black Mountains in the east; each is a wild, bold and inspiring place to visit on holiday. With 1232 miles of public trails which includes the 95-mile-long Beacons Way, it’s a wayfarer’s delight. One of four Dark Skies Reserves in the UK (and one of 11 in the world), stargazers can delight in the open night sky, to enjoy the darkness in full splendour. The Fforest Fawr is a UNESCO Global Geopark because of its important geology and a need to conserve and protect the area from negative over development.

Stay at a self-catering cottage in the mountains and cascading woodlands or out on the moors; you can also stay in one of the Brecon Beacon’s lovely towns like Hay-on-Wye, Crickhowell, Llangorse or Brecon. Outdoor lovers will enjoy a choice of easy to challenging treks up and around Sugar Loaf Mountain, Carn Pica, Craig Cerrig-Gleisiad, Pen y Fan, or Hatterall Ridge (and many more besides). Take in uniquely Welsh attractions like Dan-yr-Ogof (the National Showcaves Centre for Wales), The Big Pit Mining Museum, Llanthony Priory, Carreg Cennen Castle, Fourteen Locks, and the Brecon Beacons Mountain Railway. Wildlife abounds in the Brecon Beacons, and it’s a great place to spot red kites and discover the successful story of their reintroduction to the UK’s skies at the Red Kite Centre. There’s so much to do for outdoor lovers and extreme sports fans here, so why not book your self-catering holiday in the Brecon Beacons today?

Our holiday cottages across the Brecon Beacons have been carefully selected. From dog-friendly cottages in the countryside to large farmhouses on the mountainsides and everything in between, we have a holiday in the Brecon Beacons to suit you.
