A tranquil and romantic retreat, situated on the ground floor of a converted barn, within the hamlet of Llandefaelog Fach, close to vibrant Brecon and the magical Brecon Beacons National Park.
Get away from it all with a stay at this cosy holiday cottage for two in the glorious Welsh countryside. This ground-floor accommodation is set on a smallholding, along with another holiday cottage. Stroll down to the village pub, less than half a mile from the property, for a quiet drink or stop by for welcome refreshments on the way back from a long hike. As darkness falls, dine under the stars in the cottage’s private garden, and raise a toast, whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply admiring the amazing view.
You’ll need to walk up a few steps to enter the cottage, which combines traditional features like flagstone floors and exposed beams with homely touches including a warming wood burner and comfortable sofas you can sink back into. During your downtime, watch TV, read a book or play a card game. On warm days, open the French doors so you can step out into the sunshine to relax with a mug of coffee or sizzling BBQ. When it’s time for bed, get cosy under the covers of the super -king-size bedroom, where more French doors can be thrown open on a fine summer’s day.
Nearby Brecon (4.5 miles) is handy for shops, restaurants and galleries, and you’ll find fabulous walks beside the River Usk and along the canal from the town. The Brecon Beacons National Park has a wealth of opportunities for hill walking, mountain biking and caving, while Pen y Fan (10 miles), southern Britain’s highest peak, has routes up to the summit for all abilities. At Llangorse Lake (10.5 miles), take a rowing boat out on the water or try paddleboarding.
