Accessed down a narrow lane, the property has rustic touches throughout, with exposed brickwork and wooden beams adding to the charm. The light open-plan living space looks out to the mountains through the patio doors, so you can certainly dine with a view here. When you want to unwind, sink into the cosy sofas, fire up the wood burner and tuck into some home-baked goodies provided by the owner. A double bedroom and walk-in shower room are on the ground floor, while the king-size master bedroom with en-suite bathroom is upstairs. Outside, listen to the calming sounds of the stream as it trickles alongside the garden. If you have children with you, they’re welcome to use the trampoline and play area in the owner’s garden.
Getting around on foot or by bicycle is a great way to travel in this part of the country as the cottage is on the Taff Trail, offering 55 miles of forest, railway and riverside paths all the way to Cardiff Bay. In Brecon, visit the cathedral, buy gifts for friends from the boutique shops or catch a show at the canal-side theatre. At Cantref Adventure Farm and Riding Centre (3 miles), experience pony trekking in breathtaking surroundings.
